Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) - Part 1

Avengers apparently confirmed for Friday.
With this & Spiderman FFH over the weekend, gonna be a helluva few days.
As Samuel L Jackson said in Jurassic Park "hold on to your butts"

What a time to be alive. I appreciated 2014 Godzilla despite its flaws because I was justt happy to see godzilla taken seriously. But this movie feels like a true celebration of the character I'm hoping it does really well.

I hope there's no more cutting away from the action. That decision in the 2014 movie was stupid.

The idea wasn't bad tho. That mystery, suspense based approach could've worked (it worked for Jaws) but Gareth made the mistake of hiding the monster after revealing him in his full glory which was really baffling.

In any case, K:SI was diametrically opposite to that of Godzilla 2014 in terms monster action so Warner Bros./Legendary already took note of the criticism from the first movie and rectified it.

I think if he gave us a small battle on Hawaii instead of cutting away that second cut away would have been more forgivable. That being said I can still watch the film and get some enjoyment.

Godzilla 2014 isn't bad, though its third act is a bit of a bore.

But still the kiss of death in IMAX will forever be a cherished memory for me....

Until seeing Godzilla' red spiral ray in IMAX supplants it

Godzilla: KAIO KEN!

Ghidroah: KAIO WHAT?

I think Godzilla 14 is great. Some things like some parts being a bit too dark, some cutaways from the fights and not caring much about Olsen and Taylor’s characters.

But I let that slide because I loved Cranston even though he’s killed early on and love Wantanabe. And plus I just was more into seeing the Monsters. I had no problem with the Jaws approach for Zilla but cutting away from 2 of the fights especially the airport one bugged me. But overall still enjoy the film a lot like I said

Godzilla 2014's biggest problem is they killed off the best character in the opening 20 mins. I watched it again recently and Bryan Cranston is the best thing in the movie. Why his characters was killed off that early will always perplex me, it should have been him and Wantanbe's characters who were the driving force, not Taylor Johnson and Olsen. The movie completely flatlines after Cranston is killed.

While I don’t think it completely flatlines after his death, I agree that him and Wantanabe should’ve been the main focus character wise.

I thought Watanabe's performance in the movie was awful, but not sure I agree. I do agree the movie is totally deflated after Cranston's character dies. Aaron Johnson's character was so weak and bland. Cranston's character should've been the driving force for the movie.

He doesn't seem at all motivated to save and protect his family.
