There are so many versus threads on the hype, and many useless fan wars. I wanted to take a step forward and celebrate that we get to see all these wonderful characters come to life. I still remember being shocked we were getting an X-Men movie back in the day.

I never imagined we would be at Avengers 2 and Batman being on screen with Superman. I still remember buying my ticket to Raimi's Spiderman and seeing something different. The Dark Knight and seeing the rest of the population finally seeing what we ''nerds'' were talking about all these years.

Some of ya'll might like one company over the other and films etc, but damm it if we don't go through the same moments when see them for the first time. I don't want any cbm to fail. I want all of them to be good.

BvS
Suicide Squad
Civil War
Apocalypse
Deadpool
Dr Strange

And many more to come!

Hurrah! I definitely agree with the sentiments expressed. :)

It's absolutely amazing how far comic book movies have progressed since the first X-Men movie and the first Spider-Man movie came out in 2000 and 2002, respectively. Those two films truly made a difference in helping to make comic book movies better and more sophisticated as a genre of film. Without those two films, not only would we have not gotten the future films in X-Men and Spider-Man franchises, but I also highly doubt that we would have gotten the Nolan Batman trilogy, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or the chance to see Superman and Batman together in a movie.

Ten or so years ago, I never would have dreamed that we would see the Avengers in any movies, because it seemed too difficult to pull off. How times have changed. Not only are fans seeing their favorite characters onscreen in live action, but the general viewing public is getting the chance to experience them as well, bringing these characters firmly into the mainstream. It's definitely something to be grateful for!

DISCLAIMER: The FF sequel might not be happening.

Are we in a golden age of comic book movies?

I'm not too proud to admit that I get a little teary eyed sometimes when I look at the upcoming comic book film and TV slate. I ain't even ashamed.

It's gonna be an interesting year.

It feels weird to say that the only movies out of that whole list that I don't wanna see are the Fantastic Fours. Normally I'd be really excited for them. I can't imagine any of the other films on that list being so uninteresting.

It's sad. All of the trailers so far have bored me to tears. Luckily Fox still has some excellent X-Men stuff in the pipeline.

Out of the 25 movies, so far the only ones I don't plan on seeing are the FF movies and maybe Gambit. Everything else I'm looking forward to.

I'm interested in all except Avengers, Thor 3 & Civil War. Maybe not Aquaman, unsure

I support all comic book movies cause I'm from the time where we wished they make a movie about the x-men cartoons and stuff like that
Now we get 3 - 4 a year man I'm so glad I'm alive in this era of movies
my movies are being made call me selfish but I deserve it :sly:

I actually watched the first Captain America multiple times cause it's the only comic movie I had I knew it was terrible but I wached it anyway lol

A film featuring Batman and Superman was an inevitability imo, but I am grateful we are getting things like GOTG, Avengers, Suicide Squad, Antman, Spiderman in the MCU, Apocalypse, Flash, Wonder Woman, Black Panter, Aquaman, and the Green Lantern Corps. Alot of these things were once pipe dreams.

I'm excited for anything Marvel, minus FF, and I'm still up in the air about Apocalypse
DC, even Batman, just doesn't do it for me anymore, too sullen

Looking at the giant wall of films is pretty awesome
but any two films opening in the same month seems like a pretty bad idea
if I was the producer on the first of two films in one month, I'd ask to get bumped up a week or two... CBM fatigue may not have set in yet, but their legs get chopped right off the day another CBM opens

I'm interested in all except Avengers, Thor 3 & Civil War

:argh:

Great idea for a thread. I've never felt so lucky as a superhero fan.

Oh my. Looks like 2019 is the year we're getting the Avengers vs. Justice League showdown we all originally thought we were getting this year, lol.

2017 and 2018 are the ones I'm most looking forward to, though. Excited about pretty much all the DC and Marvel films coming out those years. Except Thor. Just can't get into those movies.

But yes, we are living in glorious times indeed. :woot:

Isn't the whole forum an appreciation tgread for this golden age?

I remember having a conversation with someone back in '08 regarding how we were in the Golden Age of CBM's. In hindsight, it seems like a huge overstatement compared to now :funny:.

I'll watch them all.
So long as Kick-Ass 3 is not a movie, that will be the exception if it does happen.

A Kick-Ass or Hit-Girl movie would be the cherry on top of the cake for me!

Taylor Johnson was wayy too jacked for KA2
and Moretz looks really awkward in the Hit-Girl outfit now
they should probably recast if they wanted to make another that had the same charm as the first

We stand at the pinnacle of the CBM era - between now and say 2020-2021, the best quality CBM's in our known lifetime will be upon us.

For all that has gone before, and the admiration I personally hold for those films, I have waited my whole life for Batman & Superman to be on screen together and for a JL film, those are happening and I think the casting, depth of talent & approach to the DCCU is immense and will herald some amazing work over the next few years.

Well, I consider 08 to be the start of this wonderful era. Sure there were bump in the roads between then and now, but in the end it led to where we are now. Hopefully it pans out well. This up coming slate looks amazing on paper, but law of averages suggest some of them are bound to be awful. I hope doesn't come to that, but it's most likely inevitable.

What's happened with CBMs has been beyond my wildest dreams. Like you, I remember a time when seeing most comics in live action was implausible. I've liked just about every adaptation in the last 25 years, even the ones that aren't critically acclaimed or received well by the GA.
