Thanks for posting these! I better start making the list of movies i need to watch before the Academy Awards.

So glad Birdman and Gone Girl got some recognition.

Only four Best Picture nominees? WTF?

As usual, Jessica Lange gets yet another nomination for hamming up American Horror Story again.

^ Foxcatcher is nominated too.

Heeey, kvz is a mod! Shows how on top of things i am :hehe:. Congrats! :highfive:

While the movie side may be a precursor to the Oscars, the TV side is not a precursor to the Emmys because we all know what happens at the Emmys:

- Jim Parsons will win Best Actor in a Comedy for the fifth year in a row
- Modern Family wins Best Comedy for the fifth year in a row
- Tatiana Maslany gets snubbed for the third year in a row.

Is this "Jane the Virgin" show actually good? I see previews of it all the time when I watch The Flash and Arrow and it looks pretty stupid. I'm surprised that, of all the shows CW has put out over the years, that's the one that gets recognized here.

Orange is The New Black needs to win best comedy TV series. I hope The Lego Movies wins best feature animated film. That was a fun film. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

I have a feeling Eddie Redmayne is the frontrunner for Best Actor at this point. The Theory of Everything inexplicably getting a Best Ensemble nomination by SAG suggests that that movie has some serious momentum that can't be overlooked.

Redmayne and Felicity Jones were fantastic in The Theory of Everything. Well worth seeing that film.

God I hope not, it's one of those that feels the most formulaic and "Oscar bait" out of all the nominees.

Jake! I hope he gets his oscar nom. My boy Joaquin in there too. :oldrazz:

I agree!

Ruth Wilson and Dominic West absolutely kill it in 'The Affair'.

They probably won't win, because as we all know, this all more about popular names winning....

Yeah the Golden Globes when it comes to TV is horrible. HORRIBLE. It's because it's the foreign press and they obviously have different tastes especially comedies. It just seems like Europeans like American's 'broader' comedies vs…I don't' know..Community or whatever.

I had completely forgotten about Selma, which took up the Best Drama spot I would've guessed Gone Girl to fill.

Do any of you take IMDB ratings seriously? Cause I was looking at the top scored films of 2014 and it doesn't seem to match with the golden globes...

The only reason I'm not too bothered with Maslany being snubbed this year (despite the Globes being one of the only awards to recognize her last year). Ruth Wilson's awesome on that show.

That said, I agree with what everyone's saying here that the TV side of the Globes is especially bad. Though I'd take that back if OitNB won Comedy Series.

I think it's a little early to call Redmayne the frontrunner. If the BAFTA's show that movie as much love as the SAG's, then I'll start to believe it.

If you had to choose between the top 10 films of 2014 selected by IMDB
or the top 10 films of 2014 selected by The Academy/Golden Globe people...

Who would you pick??
