The only Oscar Avatar deserves is Best Special Effects, and (depending on the other potential candidates) maybe a Best Score nomination.

It is NOT Best Picture material. As far as I'm concerned, the Golden Globe nomination is just the HFPA giving into the hype.

I enjoyed Avatar, but I freaking loved Inglourious Basterds and Hurt Locker.... I'd go Inoglourious Basterds though, I've watched it 3 times since it came out on DVD.

Basterd will get a look in and Tarentino a director slot. Still waiting to see Hurt Locker, the irony being one of the supposed big contenders we don't get until after the Oscars so I've gotta order in from Amazon.

I don't care how badmouthed TF:ROTF got this year it just has to win an award for it's techincal achievements, sound, SFX, editing.

Losing that same award to one of the Bourne movies back in 2008 was a big slap in the face.
