For the life of me I can't imagine what behind the scenes problems arose that caused Rogue One and Young Han Solo to get into production before this project.

A Gonk Droid movie is all any is talking about.

Probably overwhelmed by to many great actors fighting for the chance to play Gonk!
A role which offers incredible depth and complexity, and such great impact to the Star Wars saga.
So they went with easier cast, less significant projects like Rogue One and Han Solo.

They know they need to get Gonk just right, or really the whole universe falls apart.
