I started a film club at school and we've been watching rated R films. Our advisor wants us to have a broader audience because right now only juniors and seniors are allowed to watch the R films. I'm asking the savants of the hype if they can tell me good ones.

I'm going to take out Star Wars, LOTR, Miyazaki's work, and Disney films.
:yay: thanks if you help

Here's a few. None of them are R though.

Seven Samurai
Rashomon
Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love The Bomb

For the juniors and seniors- Slap Shot :woot:

You honestly can't find any good PG-13 flicks? There are thousands out there.

Annie Hall (PG)
Ghost Busters (PG)
Ferris Bueller's Day Off (PG-13)
Stranger than Fiction (PG-13)
The Truman Show (PG)
The Graduate (PG)
A Mighty Wind (PG-13)
all 3 Naked Guns (I think)
all 3 Bourne films
Most Hitchcock was unrated or had a lower rating.

Napoleon Dynamite
Bubble Boy
Mystery Men
Signs
Time Bandits

Wowzer...PG-13?
Perhaps you could be more specific? :/

The first ever movie to get the PG-13 Rating.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

automatically all horror movies are discredited

I don't think so. I asked if this was a film history club or whatever, and he never answered me. I wanted to know so I could go before the days of the rating system. I think these are just kids who want to watch "cool" movies, but I'm not sure.

Film clubs should definitely watch quality films.

If I joined a film club, I'd definitely want to be watching Lawrence of Arabia or 12 Angry Men, and go into detail about the plot, camera techniques, actors, etc. Not watching some random film for the sake of passing time.

Exactly. But something tells me, that's not what this thread is about.:csad:

This movie club is a place for the kids to get together and watch sex and violence, not discuss the intricate details of the film. Get with it, old man.

LOL, terry, but forreal, Bang Bros and Die Hard, ftw!

What are some of the movies you've been watching, that might help gauge what type of film club this is, one looking for really well made films or just a bunch of people getting together to watch cool movies.

So far we have seen 28 weeks later, A clockwork Orange, and The warriors. The group was originally to analyze films, but organization was poor and someone brought a xbox 360 to play Halo at the school for a meeting:o So far the group consists of about fifteen guys. The only female being the advisor and she would like us to get more members. I talked to the principal and he said if there was more than twenty affiliates that permission slips would have to be assigned to show R rated films.

I want to keep watching films that most people haven't seen. Ant Bully does bring up a discussion of socialism. Three members including myself are really into films, but I don't think any of the others want to sit down, watch and compare the differences of Gone with the Wind in its adaptation.

Good Burger:yay: what happened to Kel Mitchell?
