I'm excited about this, I was a huge fan of this series when I was a kid and always wanted to see a big budget movie based on it. The great thing about it is, most of the stories are fairly short, so you can have all the important elements of the story in the film and possibly add upon it. I think the first movie should be Welcome to Dead House, since it was the first book in the series

But you've got to remember, the books were pretty fast paced...there's plenty of room of plot build-up and character development. I read these books when I was a kid, and have a soft spot of The Werewolf of Fever Swamp (my first) and The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb (which was my favorite). But I'd sort of like to see something new, penned by Stine, packed with all sorts of monsters, and done so that its enjoyable for kids, adults, and those in between who read the books when they came out. A sort of modern day Monster Squad would be cool. Regardless, they need an cast with child actors who aren't terrible to watch...and I haven't seen too many since the late 1980s.

Sorry dude, I really don't like that idea. It sounds too much like those horrible House of Dracula or House of Frankenstein movies. Putting a bunch of goosebumps monsters in one setting just sounds lame. I would prefer stand-alone films like Goosebumps Presents: insert book title here.

i want it to be like the Twilight Zone movie. 3 or 4 seperate 30-45 minute stories in one movie. I would watch that.

That's a great idea!

For the first film I would use Welcome to Dead House, Say Cheese and Die, and Night of the Living Dummy.

Wow, a Goosebumps movie! Those books practically defined my early childhood.

Hmmm If they were smart they would do a combination of there books in one movie. If they want to start out strong they should have there 3 best series of books Night of the Living Dummy Say Cheese and Die Haunted Mask and maybe even Monster Blood.

Haunted Mask is a freakin MUST!

I'm curious to see what they'll do with this. I'd see this as long as it looks interesting.

To be honest though, I was more of an Animorphs fan.

The werewolf of fever swamp was pretty good. As close as the series got to adult horror.

read these back in the day. i'd be up for a Monster Squad type movie cuz I loved Monster Squad when i was younger.

Since the books were made long enough ago that the people who were the original readers are now in their 20s, I hope the movies are made for that generation. In simpler terms, I hope their actually scary.

The GOOSEBUMPS Movie Has Interesting Writers!?

Merrick here...

Yeah, I know, a GOOSEBUMPS movie (based on R.L. Stine's work) doesn't do much to excite me, either - although I'm frequently warm to producer Neil Moritz's particular brand of on-screen madness.
This said, I raised my eyebrow when I saw who they're getting to write the project: Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski.
The long-established duo may spend the rest of their lives trying to live down their association with the PROBLEM CHILD franchise...but they've also brought us a few very compelling projects:
Tim Burton's ED WOOD (one of my all time mot favorite-est films), THE PEOPLE VS. LARRY FLINT and MAN ON THE MOON (both from Milos Forman), and RIPLEY'S BELIEVE IT OR NOT - once a Burton project that Spike Jonze ultimately jumped onto (is he still involved?)
So, will we get the PROBLEM CHILD Alexander & Karaszewski...or the ED WOOD Alexander & Karaszewski? It'll be interesting to find out.
This per Hollywood Reporter.

The Haunted Mask or Attack of the Mutant.

I still have the whole collection, though I've passed it on to my younger brother. The ones I wore out the most were Attack of the Mutant,The Haunted Mask 2, Attack of the Jack 'O Lanterns, and A Shocker on Shock Street.

I remember my mom used to read me the Monster Blood books just for fun before bed, and then I'd cheat and use the books for school assignments without actually having read them myself. I also did a book report on You Can't Scare me. I still have this little electronic statue of a Mud Monster that screams when you push a button. Got alot of the episodes recorded too.

Probably the one that stuck with me most was How I Learned to Fly. I totally related to that. In school, I was the same way, never being able to get the girl, but hoping to impress her with my sweet artworks of superheroes and her...

...so many memories. Seriously, as was said earlier in the thread, Goosebumps DEFINED my childhood. Every night before bed, every school assignment, and every saturday morning. :word:

As far as a movie, I think A Shocker on Shock Street could be sweet, maybe with a few spliced in bits of other stories.

That could be a cool way to do these films. For each movie, base it on one certain story, but add parts from other stories as they fit, kind of making it a little more fleshed out for a film, as opposed to having to pick just one or having 3 definitively stand alone stories in one movie. Of course, with books that have sequels already, like Monster Blood, the Haunted Mask, etc., then you just stick to that story.

EDIT:
Just saw on Wikipedia (so take it as you will) that the story for the movie will be an all new one as opposed to one from the previous books.

This could be cool if it's in the hands of competant filmmakers. I loved the old Goosebumps books as a kid.
