I assume this interview from Moviehole has been posted somewhere here:

New Moviehole recruit 'Charley Bowdre' was flown to the set of “The Dark Knight” this week - on the Batwing, I hear - and got to chat with the folks behind the Batty blockbuster. The full report will be up closer to the film’s release, but for the meantime, here’s a tease:
Firstly, a bit on the “Justice League” movie – which neither Christian Bale (Batman) or director Christopher Nolan will be a part of.
Charley Bowdre: What do you make of the announcement to the Justice League movie and seeing as it features Batman, will it affect your own Bat Universe?
Chris Nolan: Truly.. I don't know anything about it and I'm just making my own film and that's what matters.

And will there be more Batman movies after this one?

Is anyone else contracted to a third movie?
Chuck Roven (Producer): I believe Christian is contracted to a third and er.. Gary.. Gary Oldman. I don't know if anyone else is.. I can tell you Batman is going to Hong Kong, where we're filming and that'll be the first time Batman's left Gotham. And Gotham..Gotham look and feels like Gotham. The skyline.. Gotham.
Charley Bowdre: Is there anything significant about the skyline of Gotham, because for some reason Joel Schumacher whacked in the Statue of Liberty and it's like.. Is this New York or Gotham?
Chuck Roven: Ha. Yeah.. er. No, it's Gotham. It's a thriving metropolis. The mono rail is back in there and that's looking good.

That's our tease. Next year you’ll get the full low-down.
(by the way, we’ve got it on good authority that a new 'Joker'-heavy trailer will be out in December - attached to "I am Legend" but possibly only in IMAX)

But what i found interesting was: 'And Gotham... Gotham look and feel like Gotham. The skyline.. Gotham.' Now, i don't know about you guys, but i know some fans were unhappy with the skyline in BB, saying it looked too much like Chicago, and that not enough manipulation had gone down. Personally, i agree with them, but this comment seems to me to be directed at those fans. Chuck is basically saying that this time, Gotham WILL look like Gotham.
I'm so pleased!:yay:

I didn't have a problem with the skyline in Begins. Probably because I was not familiar with the Chicago Skyline, but can understand why people could be.

Also
good authority that a new 'Joker'-heavy trailer will be out in December
= excellent

I also had no problem with the skyline - but at the same time, I wouldn't mind a more "jazzed" up one either.

Nice thread title, *starts playing R. Kelly's "Gotham City" in the background*

Notice he doesn't say that Michael Caine is coming back for the third. Only Christian and Gary.

Just sayin' is all...

Cool thanks , myself I really liked the skyline of Gotham in begins , I thought that the overhead shots , when you could see the river etc were stunning and I loved the view from the mono rail where you see Wayne Tower . I guess its how familar you are with the city its based on , you could spot the buildings . For me what was funny or stuck out a bit was at the end in begins , when Bruce is standing in the ruins of Wayne manor and you can see the rolling english country side .

Wayne Manor isn't IN Gotham City, it's in the suburbs. Hence, you can't see the skyline from its location.

Guess the whole "See you in December" bit is really true. Can't wait.

LOL, yeah i thought of the R Kelly song too when i saw the thread title!

yeah....gotham did look alot like chicago, just not enough Gotham in there. ah well, some directors have there own views of gotham. burtons is still my favorite, but i dont mind this one too much. should add in some gargoyles in there though. even shumacher had the sense to add in some gargoyles and statues.

i like nolans response though to the JLA batman thing. that movie is going to suck if they dont at least have the sense to cast keaton as the Bat. hes the only thing that could save that F4-like bomb, assuming thats what it feels like.

Com' on, would the Joker ever lie to us? :cwink:
He's a notorious liar !:woot:

I myself loved Gotham in BB but I woulkdbn't mind to see it more in TDK with more gigantic aerian views !

I've got no problem with Gotham in BB. For years the city was NY filtered thru comic book sensibilities but I like the city having it's own look now. Maybe it's because I've never been to Chicago but I like it as it is. But I totally get what you people from Chicago are saying, like when they filmed NY for Metropolis in Donner's Superman.

So casting Keaton as Batman is only way to save JLA:dry:

yea i agree, it felt like a living, breathing, tangible city
in BB yes but I want it to escalate in this matter too in TDK (and it seems it will considering the number of scenes in daylight)!

I liked the architecture of BB, it was very gritty and original. It wasn't comic-book like (which I felt was exactly what B89 did). It also wasn't very recognizable to me, since I've never been to Chicago. Anyways, I hope it looks similar in TDK.

Also, I can't believe someone actually said that casting Keaton as Batman is the only way to save JLA. I think I vomited a little in my mouth on that one.

What I loved particularly were the shots of Chicago mixed with some CGI to present the railway and the big arcades and so on....I can't find a pic !

I also loved the design of the Narrows, that's something I've never seen on film before, it looked awesome. It gave that tenement housing feel of the slums of Gotham.

God, I love being in Orlando. :wow:

In the same vein as Gotham and "the narrows"... In BB, does Gordon live in The Narrows? I seem to remember his balcony-type-thingy resembling those in the picture above... but I wasn't sure...
