Gotham Gotham Season 1, Episode 7 "Penguin's Umbrella" General Discussion

I was fully expecting that Penguin make a comment about the chickens.

This episode was tremendous. This is what Ive wanted the show to be since day one. I mean i get it that they have to build things up but I think an increased focus on the mob and gang war is good for the show. Keep it more serialized than episodic so that your hooked from week to week.

Also, Zaasz was by FAR the best villain in this sho. He was pure SCARY.

Best episode of the season. I am really loving this show.

Highlight of the episode:

Zaasz: Everyone out.

**Everyone just stares at each other**

Zsaaz: PLEASE?

**Everyone flees the station**

Damn, why would anyone wanna be a cop in Gotham?

Best episode since the pilot. Fish Mooney's fate is sealed.

Fish does have that girl as a weapon though, so I don't know if she will die anytime soon.

Four things to take away from this episode:

Even freaks love catchy music.

Maroni doesn't know what sound geese make.

Don't mess with the Penguin.

Don't mess with the Roman.

Agreed. The show is at its best when there's no plot of the week stuff and they just focus on the big picture. I wish it was like this all the time.

And how bout Victor's Funky town ringtone. Hilarious.

It's reasons like this, along with other factors that we've seen in this show that I really hope that we get to see Bruce become Batman BEFORE the show comes to a close.

I want to see the big change in the tide of how Gotham starts turning for the better once we get to see the early stages of Bruce's partnership with Gordon as Batman.

they've already shown him and Alfred fencing.

True, but I think the fencing was just Alfred wanting to help Bruce relieve some hidden stress/anger that he could see was pent up inside of him.

that and with his military background he knows the value of physical confidence and self defense training. he doesn't want Bruce to feel victimized and helpless.

Funky town ringtone was hilarious

Nice twist there at the end.

Zsasz really should have found a way to quietly get a hold of Gordon not walked in like he did. Some of the cops definitely looked humiliated while they where leaving Gordon to stand alone. The cops just had their cowardliness and corruption rubbed in thier face in very big way publicly. That is going to have repercussions that the mob is not going to like.

Dang this episode was really really good.........
Penguin is amazing in this so far......

Incredible episode. Best by a long shot. If the show maintains the kind of quality of this episode it will be a real winner.

Penguin is sooooooo awesome. As a long time Penguin fan since childhood it's great to see his potential be lived up to as a bad ass villain in this show. In that opening scene where you see him waddling along with his umbrella, two henchmen at his side, and that kind of comical music theme that the villains of the 60's TV show had, I smiled big time. I hope 'ol waddle foot gets a new level of respect from some Batman fans who unfairly dismiss him as a lesser villain.

Ben McKenzie finally impressed me as Gordon. I never disliked him, but he didn't wow me until now. He was on great form in this. The whole cast were. Even Jada stepped up her game as Fish. That confrontation scene she had in Maroni's place with Penguin was great.

I loved all the mob stuff. It was really well handled and gave the episode that gangster pulpy feel. Zsasz was a great villain. Not over used, not diluted down, and not a villain of the week type character. They need more of that. Zsasz is primed to pop up when ever they need him to.

The twist at the end was terrific. Did not see that coming. 10/10 for this episode.

I AGREE..This has so much potential
Impressed with how its developing, but if I was Gordon...I'd deal with the GCPD with an extra eye out there......
WOW.so impressed with this episode

I've enjoyed the Penguin so far, but the scene of him killing Carbone really blew me away. He's owning this ****.

This show keeps getting better every week.

The episode was Brilliant. The is the type of quality in terms of writing, acting, and story I've been waiting for since the pilot . They lost smallville like freaks, The schumacer camp, and the bad writing, and came up with a mini -crime drama which evoked LA Confidential, The Untouchables, The St Valentine's Day Massacre, and The Dark Knight.

They hit ever note just right and I hope they stick to this style. They were able to have humorous moments with some great one liners, while at the same time taking the story seriously . The maximized their strengths and dumped or dialed back their weaker aspects.

The episode worked on every level and I hope they maintain the quality of this last episode and don't go back to the silliness of Balloon man, Selina Kyle , Spirit of the Goat , and Viper.

10/10

What a Great Episode. This show just keeps on getting better each week IMO. Penguin as always there's not much to say about this guy that hasn't been said already. I can't wait for the day he kills Fish and takes over.

GCPD is a terrible police force refusing to do anything and won't back a fellow cop. Even worse Gordon own captain do nothing either..........I would think MCU should step it up and take down those corruption in the city
