THE VILLAINS WILL RISE ON THE SEASON PREMIERE OF "GOTHAM" MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, ON FOX

Penguin is King of Gotham and after a shakeup at the GCPD, Detective James Gordon's moral compass wavers, as he seeks help from Penguin. Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne continues to explore the secrets from his father's office, while GOTHAM newcomers Theo Galavan (James Frain) and his sister, Tabitha (Jessica Lucas), make friends with some unlikely allies, a group of dangerous inmates from Arkham in the all-new "Rise of the Villains: Damned If You Do... " Season Two premiere episode of GOTHAM airing Monday, Sept. 21 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (GTH-201) (TV-14 L, S, V)

Tonight!

about time but damn, Big Bang Theory also on tonight and Flipped at Birth

All hail Zaardon!!!!

Not going to lie, I wouldn't mind seeing more of these proto-supervillians.

I think Bruce is going a bit overboard to opening the door...

I figured he would of tried harder to find out the combination but I understand his urgency.

So Jim is going to know Bruce is Batman, right? They're having way too many conversations where it would be unbelievable that he wouldn't know Bruce is Batman when he becomes him.

Why does Barbara have a phone in her cell? Did I miss something

We may never know. I'm wondering if Bruce's dad was making a bat suit

I liked that ending. Hopefully Bruce can find his true calling , whatever it may be.

Jessica Lucas is lookin great as Tigress though.

I enjoyed. So glad we are getting Psycho Barbera. Much more fun.

Enjoyed the stuff with Bruce, Alfred, and the cave.

The villains stuff was good with Tigress, her brother, and the future villains they broke out of the asylum.

How nice to see Selina joining Penguin as this is a nod to Batman Returns.

Redundant of Jim Gordon being dismissed only to be reinstated with Penguin's help as I hope they don't go back and forth with it.

Not a bad season premiere.

Good first episode. Also am I the only one who thought the letter Thomas left Bruce was similar to the one in the Akrham Knight teaser?

I'm disappointed in Jim Gordon. :(

I can't remember but I swear there was a proto-Batman identity. I don't think it was the Grey Ghost, but something like it. I was wondering if Bruce's father took on something like that as hacker identity sort of, to investigate his own corporation.

I don't think it was redundant at all, this episode was all about 'having a calling' and how far you are willing to go for that calling...giving up happiness, giving up peace of mind, giving up personal morals, etc.

This is the thread that will ultimately connect Gordon and Bruce together as allies in the future, both of them have a calling for justice and both of them are willing to step on the toes of the law itself...for the greater good.

I think we saw tonight the beginning of a man who would one day accept the help of a vigilante for the sake of Gotham City. We have to see Gordon losing his idealism and heading in that direction...and the fact that he was willing to [BLACKOUT]work for Penguin[/BLACKOUT] in order to get his job back at the GCPD is really the start of that arch.

All in all I though it was a great kick-off episode to Season 2, and I can't wait to see where it goes from here! :yay:

Wasn't Gordon fired like 3 times last season...?

How does this show have a great scene with Bruce reading a note from Thomas and then also have all of the other terribly written villain stuff (especially Barbara) and so forth?

It was an ok episode. Hopefully this is the last of Gordon losing his job as it is just tiring. Not sure what they plan on doing with Barb.

I thought this episode was great, the only thing I didn't like was the Zarrdon schtick.

But I had slight disappointments:

1) Bruce not being patient enough to figure out the security code to his father's office. I know he's 13 (or so) but building a bomb which could possibly/probably damage Wayne Manor seems a bit rash.

I really want to see Bruce Wayne's mind being exceptional. Blowing stuff up was never Bat's first 100 thoughts until Batman '89. Sigh.

2) They should have had a good line for Selina anytime she's in a scene.

3) Well, Gordon actually committed murder at the behest of a gangster. He robbed the guy, beat people up and then killed him because he was being shot at.

I'm ok with that because it was set up by Bruce's inquisition (using the Socratic method), but it does seem James & Bruce are too jaded & too early.

I do want to see more idealism in Bruce as he approaches his unending crusade, because he really does have some fun. :oldrazz:

man seriously the dude playing Joker/Jerome should get his own tv show! really i was going to give up on this show till i found out he was going to be back on! i did love that" i am building a bomb so either help me or make me some tea!" you ^&*(!!:woot: oh and that tigress chick is F^&*() SMOKIN HOT!!

My friend and I thought this episode was more consistent in tone and focus. It was a more organic hybrid of Burton and Schumacher style with much better execute new-noir themes. Gordon's story was much more stylish and driven than it was last season, hitting familiar beats, but hitting them much harder with him killing someone for Penguin and even directing his scenes in a very archetypal way for a cop getting dirty. The Arkham scenes followed excellent internal logic and atmosphere, and while Theo Galavan is a seemingly more sane and reasonable villain then the Arkham 6, he's also got enough ham and camp to fit in with them all without tipping into complete camp. And Bruce's story felt much better this time, though his subplot still needs drive.

The biggest difference to me was that this felt very much like part 1 in a serial, as opposed to the procedural format of last season's premier. If they embrace this new tone and direction, and if they manage to make Bruce and Selina's subplot actually significant, we could be in a for a real treat.
