THE RACE FOR A CURE ON AN ALL-NEW “GOTHAM” MONDAY, NOVEMBER 28, ON FOX

As the virus begins to spread in Gotham, the laboratory that is developing a cure is compromised. Mario and Gordon face off before the wedding, Selina meets an unexpected face and Barbara comes to Nygma with information about Isabella in the all-new “Mad City: Beware the Green-Eyed Monster” episode of GOTHAM airing Monday, Nov. 28 (8:00-9:01 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (GTH-311) (TV-14 L, V)

Cast: Ben McKenzie as Detective James Gordon, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Morena Baccarin as Leslie Thompkins, Sean Pertwee as Alfred, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle/the future Catwoman, Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma/the future Riddler, Jessica Lucas as Tabitha Galavan, Chris Chalk as Lucius Fox, Drew Powell as Butch Gilzean, Maggie Geha as the future Poison Ivy, Michael Chiklis as Detective Nathaniel Barnes, Benedict Samuel as Mad Hatter

Mmm...

From the cast list, I guess we can assume that...

Barnes gets cured and comes back to the GCPD but not as captain?

I think Michael Chiklis is a regular so he's credited in every episode of the entire season without having to be in every episode.

Maybe. Has he been credited as "detective" before though?

I see a lot of good stuff in place for this episode. If they play it right, it will be a fantastic midseason finale.

If they play it wrong, half the screentime will be chewed up by Jim, Lee and Mario bickering.

Well, not much of Leslie bickering so far, but lot of back and forth between Jim and Mario, which I can do without, but hey, that's where we are right now with this love triangle.

Trust Barbara to be the one to plant the seed in Nygma's head that Penguin is playing him, even though Nygma should have been smart enough to realize that.

Was kind of a boneheaded move and felt like a tacked on cliffhanger. So Jim learns of Mario and Leslie's location, tells no one else, not even Bullock, where he's headed, arrives at the cabin in no time, and goes against his promise to bring Mario in, not to mention looking more like a jealous lover by killing Mario and causing the knife to fall into the water.

Somewhere in Arkham, the Mad Hatter is laughing his head off.

Was this the fall finale? Because the previews were for January.

Fantastic episode regardless.

Thought the episode was solid save for this version of Penguin continuing his trend of being the worst interpretation to date. Absolutely pathetic.

But, anyway, I've grown far more impressed with Barbara and I actually can't wait to see the next major arc for her character. Nygma's back to where he needs to be and we got to see to see more of the Mad Hatter, which is always fun.

Very glad Mario is finally dead and Jerome is on his way back.

Things are about to actually get interesting again. :D

I'm just curious to know what they plan to do with Barbara. Erin Richards is saying stuff about Harley Quinn, and right now, all Barbara has mostly done is walk into a room and mug with that grin of hers. Though I would be interested in seeing an alliance between her and Nygma.

I think she'll be a precursor to the real Harley Quinn, especially since they've either hinted or outright said for years that Harleen was not Joker's first Harley Quinn. He actually blatantly told her that himself, so I'm hoping that's the direction they go in. Would make the most sense.

Great Episode. This is my fav of all the comic book tv shows now. Kudos to the cast and crew.

How to put it...

If they play it wrong, half the screentime will be chewed up by Jim, Lee and Mario bickering.
Yeah, so that happened...

Some of the dialog in this episode was rather cringeworthy. The "so does this mean you're my girlfriend" from Bruce felt tacked on. The scene to get Oswald to confess his love to Ed felt awkward.

On the other hand Cory killed it with his emoting this episode. The "you're my best friend too", his meeting with Barbara & Co, and the end result is furthering the plot.

On the third hand the scene with Bruce, Selina, Alfred and the Talon was really, really good. I've rooted for at least a little more action from those for a long time and that was visceral. Didn't see the Talon dying. Also introducing Selina's mother was good, because we need more of her perspective, but that aspect felt really rushed.

I hope... I really hope... that this is it for Jim and Lee. We've heard stuff about Alfred getting a love interest in the third season, and if we're really lucky they might play him with Lee. God knows it can't get any more boring than the alternative.

The show keeps hurting from too much focus on the least interesting part of the show. Barbara, Nygma, Bruce, Oswald, Alfred, Tabitha, Selina, Butch, Bullock... they are all more entertaining than Jim Gordon.

Looking forward to the Joker three-parter but felt a bit cheated they didn't throw in any new Jerome footage. Seeing how they slapped "he's back" all over the screen it's not exactly a secret.

Really this show did a lot of decent setup with this episode, but it felt a bit fractured and poorly paced. Maybe some of that feeling is a result of my loathing of the Jimleerio plot, though. At least it was a good overall installment, the best since episode 5 which is heads and shoulders the best of the season so far.

ETA: Plus, after a few episodes... That really was it for Isabella? She was just a magic snowflake who showed up and magically looked exactly like Kristen and magically started her conversation with Ed by telling him a riddle, and that was just magically it? Wtf...

Yeah, same. Isabella was pretty much a plot point and nothing more like Kirsten was. Really feel bad for the actress here.

Anyway, loved this mid-season finale apart from some cringe-worthy lines.

Pretty sure Jim and Lee are pretty much kaput at this point.

I re-evalued the "so you're my girlfriend now" line. I like it now. Feels deliberately clumsy and childish in a pretty decent way, alternately a goofy way to break the ice. So, whatever.

Seriously Bruce and Selina keeps saving episodes for me. Consistently the strongest part of the show. They're just written good all over.

Awww... even though I knew they were heading this way, it's sad they cut the Riddler/Penguin romance off that quickly.

Damn...it looked pretty obvious that Jim would kill Mario...great. Lee is going to hate Jim now. He dropped the knife off the deck...oh and now Falcone is going to try and kill Jim which means Falcone has to go, and he'll be killed off.

I usually enjoyed Penguin and Riddler's friendship, but that's going to change now.

I liked the occasional conflict between Jim and Falcone, I honestly think that could have been put to rest after season 1 when they resolved each other's differences.

I'm not. It was always so very unnecessary. I loved them being best-friends but injecting a romantic angle was a poor direction to take, imo.

How is Jim even a cop, he has some serious mental issues. How he ever made the rank of detective...

For a guy who wants to clean up the city he again and again breaks laws himself.

Or is shooting two men in the leg a legal activity now. Most people would go to prison for doing that.

I lost count at how often he pulls out his gun to threaten people.

His slack jaw facial expressions alone should land him in prison. God that expression bugs the heck out of me. its like he cant do anything without his mouth slightly open

He shot two hired thugs and you're saying he should be jailed and his badge taken? Oooookay. :loco:

Yes, does not matter who they are. They were doing nothing but standing there. He turns around shoots them in the legs. It is called Assault with a deadly weapon.

Or are you saying it is legal to just shoot people who are doing nothing at all but standing there.

I've surprisingly enjoyed this show this season thus far. It's been a lot of melodramatic fun, and I hope they keep this up and don't revert back to midseason 1 through season 2's mess. Shame they cut the Penguin and Riddler stuff now, that was pretty routinely my favourite part the last few episodes.

I REALLY don't like how that scene went down:

-Lee conveniently didn't see that Mario was about to stab her. BTW I don't buy that he could get that close to her with a raised knife and her not see ANYTHING!!

-The knife conveniently falls into the ocean, so know Jim has no way to prove that his shooting was justified/Mario was a threat.

-He conveniently previously promised Carmine that he wouldn't kill his son.

Oh come on writers, how contrived can you get with the "everyone is going to hate Jim, including Lee" thing (which sounds really lame to BTW). Like this is ridiculous. Also if Lee thinks for a second that Jim would kill an innocent man just, because he was jealous, then she's an idiot.

I'm saying it's ridiculous for you to hold that stance when Jim shot two men who work for a MOB BOSS.

Are you kidding me? You're acting like he shot two random guys walking down the street. He shot two men that work for a CRIME LORD.

You have to have some screws loose to be defending them.
