If you followed the show you would know that Gotham's trailers always had almost all big moments, this isn't something new.

So after the first season, that they just shoved them all in the trailers? They were hurting for ratings for that long?

Yes I think that's FOX strategy. I guess what they want is the next episode getting as high rating as possible, that's it, nothing further. I think there are a few shocking moments they don't show in the trailer, e.g. in season 4 IIRC Barbara and Bruce killing Ras, Penguin seemingly blowing up Martin, Jeremiah getting laughing gas, etc. were not shown in trailers. But many other main moments are shown in trailers (most notably in season 5 is Ace Chemicals). That's why I rarely watch FOX trailers.

When we saw Bruce on those foreign docks, starting his yourney to become Batman...that was how I have always imagined a pre-Batman series. Following those years is what it should have been.
Imagine Bruce training with Ducard in London, the League.O.A, LOTDK's Shaman, meeting and learning from a few early Golden Age superheroes like 'The Shadow' or Alan Scott, Wildcat etc...

The finale needed to be two parts. It just did. It needed to breathe better and have a bit more fleshing out.

Would have liked to have seen a bit more of adult Selina, if nothing else. The Riddler/Penguin stuff was pretty solid, theirs is a good dynamic. I actually thought that Cameron was pretty darn good as The Joker in a limited role.

The buildup to the Batman reveal was pretty fantastic, some nice moments between Alfred, Gordon and Bullock. I do wish they’d had Bruce put the bat on the signal before it was lit, and played off of that.

The Batsuit itself is very YEAR ONE with elements of Damian Waynes. And I’m okay with that. I don’t think we ever should have expected to see a fully formed Batsuit, or something very similar to the comics. They designed something that fits the show’s aesthetic, which was big and clunky and kind of silly at times.

Yes, you see cosplay suits that look better or more like the comics, but they tend to be designed from existing drawings from a comics page or existing suits. They’re not designed to be something entirely new, and the ones that are tend to be similarly clunky and cluttered. If the producers wanted to simply copy something that was out there, they would have done so.

I do like that they blended blue, gray and black for the suit. They should have gone with the white eyes. Would have made for a really striking image, because as it is, you could barely see his eyes in the shot they used.

The cowl of that bat suit looked absolutely atrocious.

We all saw that BTS photo of the stunt actor in the batsuit, and I think it looked fine. I think its the pose and how its shot, and that David's face is placed onto the body. Its just the final shot that looks bad, maybe the suit is fine. Just my opinion.

I'm not really going to get upset with a 5 sec shot of the suit when it doesn't really matter. the series is over now and it's not like we have to live with that suit for an entire season.

so no sense getting worked up about it......lol. it is what it is.

How does everyone feel about the producers of this show? Because I feel like, from the very beginning, and now with Pennyworth, their mindset on the show they want to make happen to be ones no one wants, and the ones we want they're not interested in doing.

I haven't seen Gotham since season three and I haven't heard much in the way of praise. Now, seeing that Batsuit...

    Nah, I'm good.

That Batman suit turned out so terrible. I get what they were going for, a suit similar to that of the Arkham games, but goodness gracious was the execution off. Look at the ears! They aren't even straight up :pal: just terrible.

Just finished the finale, I thought it was pretty good, they shot it around Batman with him mostly just being a presence, and that worked. Penguin, Riddler, Barbara, Selina and Lee all got moments, I particularly liked Selina's little jewel heist.

They kept it tight and simple with a straight forward one shot style story and wrapped it up neatly with the first meeting of sorts between Batman and J, and Gordon staying on as Commissioner with Harvey still his right hand man and the soon to be bat signal brought out of storage. The final shot was fine in concept and execution but the cowl on Batman and lack of eyes looked cheap. Still, I was content with it overall as a show closer.

Pretty sure the suit was designed with some kind of forced perspective in mind, especially the top parts of it.

The only shot they really needed in the episode was the one from below.

That doesnt look too bad honestly, its the cowl that ruins the look completely.
The rest of the suit is not too bad and would look work.
But that cowl is just bad, the form, the huge holes for the eyes...it looks clunky and bad.

    Good call.

The only reason one watches Gotham should be because they enjoy Gotham as the whole. If you don't like the show but still want to see how Batman will be presented or how the suit will look, skip the show and wait until the episode Batman appears. Watching something you don't enjoy just in the hope one day it will turn into something you can enjoy or until Batman will appear is both miserable and a waste of time.

Posting in this sub in the last 3 years and reading this thread, I'm glad that it seems to be the consensus.

I'm going to miss the hell out of this show. I didn't see the last few episodes, but I can catch up on them On-Demand later. I did see the final episode, though. It ended pretty much the way I expected.

I remember back when the show first started, there was a lot of talk about it on the IMDb boards. Remember the IMDb boards? Anyway, most of the people there thought that the show would never get past season one. In fact, they were positive it would be cancelled before season one was even over. They couldn't stand the idea of a Batman show without Batman in it. They just couldn't wrap their heads around the idea of doing something pre-Batman. They never expected it would get renewed for a second season, let alone a fifth.

Five seasons is a decent run for a TV show. I can see why it lasted so long. Great show.

Episode was very good, better than Smallville ending but not by much. I like the creepy joker, Gordon with mustache but so dumb he shaves it quickly, I like the bat suit but terrible CGI face and suit could of looked better. I thought the signal covered was going to have the bat logo on it turning it on which was cool but pointless as normal light. Riddler, penguin, Catwoman was very good but Oswalds suit padding was a bit silly looking. All in all I would give the series finale episode even with the little problems 8 out of10.

Too bad the producers for Gotham didn't have the same designer that worked on the suit for the upcoming Batwoman series on the CW.

Gotham's budget was mostly spent on the huge cast, filming in NY and CGI of the city. Production value was always great but in the episode WB didn't lend them any Batman costume so they must make one themselves. They probably figured it was only for one episode, so.

It's because that David in the suit so he could actually be Batman.
