I...don't hate these nominees. Weird.

Where the heck is Joe Bonamassa? Out of his 12 albums, NINE have been number 1.

I haven't heard a single one of those. I'm so blissfully disconnected.

Adele's going to take cake, and she deserves too. She's had a stellar year!

Really sad that "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" from Kanye West or "4" from Beyonce weren't nominated for Album of the Year. Those along with "21" are really the only albums released this year (Kanye being last year) that I still listen to every single song without skipping.

Major  at "Loud" being nominated for Album of the Year and "Firework" being nominated for Record of the Year." WTF?

rihanna does not deserve to be up there imo

I agree. Rihanna had an amazing year. "Loud" is her best album, by far.

I hope some hip hop people win in some crossover categories.. we'll see.. the performance with LL cool J, grandmaster flash, melle mel, scorpio, lupe fiasco, and common was good.. at last a showcase for rappers that didn't come out in the last year or so...

the dates the grammys use for which albums were this year or last year always messes me up. like there are a bunch here that i was sure were last years.

maybe Florence + the Machine count for next year? if not she should be on here
evanesences new album was good too
also foster the people should be up for best new artist

foster the people only have one song out right? they wouldn't win imo

Florence's album was just released, so I think that will count for next year.

Bruno Mars, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, and Lady Gaga shouldn't be nominated at all, in my opinion. They make the most annoying music just for the sake of it.

Assorted thoughts:

-My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy should be the Album of the Year winner, and it's not even nominated.
-I'd love to see Wasting Light win, but I think it'll be 21, which I suppose I'd be OK with. I didn't think that album was great, but Adele's musical talent warrants her success, which is infrequently the case in the pop/R&B world.
-I would have nominated The Lady Killer for Album of the Year as well.
-With that said, the Album of the Year nominees this year are probably better than average in that none of them are terrible.
-I'm surprised Wilco is in the rock category, rather than alternative.
-I'm a little surprised Foster the People isn't nominated for Best New Artist. I think they had more overall nominations than some of the artists who were nominated.
-Good to see Lupe Fiasco get some love, even though Lasers wasn't great.

I'm just gonna come in here, express my pleasure in Chris Brown's 3 nominations, then just leave. K thx, bye. :yay:

my friend and I ranted for a couple of hours because Kanye wasn't nominated for Album of the Year. lol

Kanye should be nominated. Kanye's last album was one of the best albums of all time!:awesome:

Some of the category names make no sense to me. Like Album of the year and Record of the year. I hope Megadeth, The Band Perry, Warren Haynes or Tedeschi Trucks Band win. The band thing Warren Haynes and
Tedeschi Trucks Band are both up for Best Blues Album.

By the way what are the dates used for nominations?

I don't know the exact dates, but it's something like October 2010-October 2011.

Some of the category names make no sense to me. Like Album of the year and Record of the year

- Album of the Year is the award for an entire album.
- Record of the Year is an award for the vocal recording and goes to the artist and production team.
- Song of the Year is an award for the song writing and goes to the composer.

Adele should win Best Song and Best Album, no contest.
AND, she's unbelievably sexy and gorgeous.

Oh man I couldn't agree more. With all his accolades selling out venues, releasing an album each year not to mention his involvement with the phenomenal supergroup known as Black Country Communion etc, how the hell are they not recognising his amazing talent????

On another note I am wrapped that Steven Wilson is nominated a third time for Best Surround Sound Album with his latest masterpiece "Grace for Drowning." A pity he missed out on the two Porcupine Tree records, now here's hoping with his new solo album that he actually gets to win this time. He's even mixed a storm working the King Crimson albums into 5.1 recently (under Robert Fripp's supervision of course), and also looking forward to his 5.1 mix of Jethro Tull's Aqualung marking 40 years since the album came out.

I'm gonna have to check out that guys work. Never heard of him. There's been a few albums I've always wanted to hear in 5.1. Mostly pink Floyd, lol but I'd love to hear aqualung.

He's been very active in the Prog Rock community and has also produced a number of Opeth's albums too including mixing their latest album Heritage, in 5.1 as well. Both SW and Mikael Akerfeldt are currently working on an album together called Storm Corrosion coming in the New Year. Grace for Drowning has been said to have been an unofficial companion album to Heritage where Storm Corrosion could end up being somewhat of a Trilogy? Listeners will have to decide on that for themselves once the album comes out.

For Porcupine Tree I'd recommend starting off with In Absentia, which also featured the debut of drummer Gavin Harrison, one of the most talented drummers on the planet. He also appeared on David Letterman recently too during the second Drum Solo Week. After that Deadwing, Fear of a Blank Planet and The Incident (the latter 2 of which received the Grammy nominations previously). But there are so many albums prior to Absentia like Lightbulb Sun for example so the sound has changed from a more Psychedelic to more heavier as of late. If you like Radiohead and Pink Floyd you will LOVE Porcupine Tree. :)

Best New Artist:
Skrillex

He's in five categories, so I really hope he wins something. He's the only reason I got this set to record. :D Oh, and I hope Daft Punks wins the two categories they're in too.

I just don't want Nikki Minaj to get best new artist...Cannot stand her.
