I decided against a purchase until Holiday season discounting or the inevitable DLC+ version, but did grab a rental at Redbox. Trevor's quite the character. :funny:

Really expansive stuff. Seems there's a lot to do, to say the least, even for a GTA game.

Loving this game a lot, but not going to lie, the
torture mission
put me off a bit. I know there’s probably more coming too.

The in your opinion "lack of customization" isn't a problem with the game. It's just something that you'd rather be different. I dunno maybe we are playing two different games, but I see the customizations in this game to be vastly improved over the others. Not to mention besides the clothes you have tattoos and barber shops, and customizing your vehicles. And I really doubt the pretty scenery was created as a smoke screen for the clothing customization :whatever: you should listen to yourself. Problems with the game would be glitches and what not. Not that they didn't specifically cater to your personal preference of customization.

unlike some people here, i dont blindly praise the game... i look at what it does have and what it doesnt have. sure, there's a lot of really cool stuff, i dont deny that, but there are also things that they could of done to make it better, a lot better- i liked GTA4 and San Andreas because you could fully customize your character, and that's lacking in this game. yes they said they wouldnt have certain aspects of that (like weight gain and muscle mass), which is fine by me, but they also cut back on the clothing option. FYI, I like for the appropriate character to be in a suit that i designed, not a pre-set design. that's not cool in the least... also, from what I've been hearing from some in thsi thread, there is the occasional glitch where the car they created disappears. I use the scenery quote as only a possible example... i see surf boards in this game, but so far, no playable option to surf yet- i see fish in the water when i swim, but i cant fish- i can shoot animals, but i cant sell it for profit- you see where I'm getting at here?

these little things add up to a decent sized disappointment... i still like the game, and everything you can do, but they could of done so much more with it. now I havent played saints row, but when it comes to a playable world with minigames and options/clothes/whatever, Skyrim has this game beat hand down... and I'm still not convinced this island is bigger than IV/SA/RDR combined... i drove around the entire island in a comet in under 10 minutes- personally, i think they're over-exaggerating a bit, and when i say a bit, i mean a lot.

That's the most disturbing mission so no worry there's nothing topping that

I don't even know what to say, I'm just gonna go enjoy the game bro haha. You have fun enjoying or not enjoying, or half enjoying. Whatever haha. Btw who else loves Trevor's rampage missions? So good.

and no, there are no metal stations included in this game... that pisses me off a bit. i cant stand the other stations they included

The music is fine to me but don't really care much,Although I sure wish I could use my custom music on PS3,PS4 better include custom music for most of their games unlike PS3

When I had a 360 I loved driving around in GTA IV with my custom music on full blast in the background

The details are just amazing in this game. I was driving through the desert when some clouds rolled in. They didn't stay in a shape, but changed as they came in. Then there were bolts of lightning coming out of the sky. Each bolt was different than the previous. I left from the east side and came back west. I got to watch the sun set, and it sucked driving into it.

I've definitely been having plenty of flashback to RDR and LA Noire as I've finally gotten a chance to put in some good hours with this.

Hey Jimmy is voiced by Danny Tamberelli(Little Pete from Pete & Pete).

Does tuning your car do anything? I just picked a car I liked which wasn't all that fast, and tuned it up to the best engines/mods/performance, and I took it out, and it doesn't feel any different.

My brother went a picked the game up. Since he's busy a lot, he's let me borrow it.

Enjoying this game a lot. Not a fan of failing after a 30 minute police chase and having to replay the whole thing but otherwise this game feels a lot better than GTA IV in nearly every way. Can see where all the praise is coming from.

There's *plenty* of customization options, and FAR more than GTA IV ever had. The campaign doesn't go into full-blown create-your-own-character mode because these are not your characters. These are pre-made characters with pre-set storylines, just like Lara Croft or Nathan Drake or Soap or Solid Snake, etc.

The full-on customization comes later in GTA Online, where you'll be able to create the character *you* want to play. And I'm sure you'll be able to make them as fat or as thin or as muscular or ugly or pretty as you want, be able to dress them up however you want, be able to play them however you want. Right now, the game is just telling a story, and letting you take it for a ride. Just like practically every other campaign mode in every game out there. Have patience with the Customization Lite for the story characters right now --- you'll be able to fully customize the character *you* care about later on in Online.

As for the size of the map --- ymmv, and I haven't broken out the measuring tape to actually compare and contrast GTA V with similar sandbox games, but lots of bloggers already have and their findings unanimously dispute yours. You seem to be measuring the map by its surface area, and failing to take into consideration that there's entire levels --- underground and underwater --- that aren't even *shown* on the map. Think in three dimensions, not two.

As for how they could expand the game with things like surfing and fishing and the like --- yeah, I agree that there's tantalizing glimpses of more things that can be done. And the plan may very well be to add those features in the expansions. There's plenty of other things I'd like to see, too, including bringing back weightlifting and working out (especially for Muscle Beach), pigging out at the Burger Shot and other fast food joints and restaurants, maybe adding rowing to the game so that we can take kayaks and whitewater rafts and canoes onto the rivers, lakes and ocean.

I fail to understand the complaint (and you're not the only one who's voiced it) about not being able to skin animals, though. Selling furs and pelts makes sense in games like Red Dead Redemption and AC III, because that was a vital part of the economy of the era. In 2013? Not so much. Not even in Blaine County. Hunting should be expanded (and probably will) to include *something* to make it more worthwhile than just randomly killing wildlife (such as some kind of Cabela-like scoring system, or maybe offering a taxidermy option so that you can hang trophy antlers on your wall and puma rugs in your den), but I just don't see poaching for cash as a viable option in this day and age.

No you deff shouldn't. They don't need to give players complete free reign over the characters. Certain players would end up having Michael wearing a basketball jersey with shorts and timberlands, something Michael just wouldn't wear or some other ridiculous outfit. Give the player too many options and you end up with nonsense the likes of Saints Row. Rockstar has give the player plenty of freedom and there's plenty of clothing options for the 3 characters.

Yes you deff should.

not everyone can afford the ability to play this game online, cherokeesam... Rockstar should of taken that into consideration... and maybe you should of taken that into consideration before you start to criticize my thoughts on what this game offers.

again, dont get me wrong, it's a fun game, but for my personal preferences, i was hoping for some extra things... and you're right, i didn't take into consideration the underwater part of this game (which is awesome, by the way), however my stance on the land size remains the same. land wise, i wanted something bigger... packed with an incredible amount of mini-games, up to the point to where you needed more than two hands to count how many mini-games there are- but alas, the land environment does not feel big to me, and they're lacking in the mini-game department... you know, if they give more minigames and whatnot (much, much more customization and interaction for the single player game) in a DLC release, then i'll be incredibly happy to say im wrong.

What I find odd is that this game has all kinds of livestock, but no horses to ride...

I kind of wanted to go Red Dead on some people.

Yeah, the
torture mission
was off-putting, but I completely understand what they were going for. Commentary on the US Governments ways of torture. Though, I kind understand the outcry about it mostly because it's GTA and well, there's no such thing as "good taste" in this series(:hehe:), but I have seen far worse in video games.

And yeah, I'm finding the "lack of customization and freedom" argument to be absolutely baffling.

I just want a horse, a revolver, and a tank spawning cheat. Otherwise the game is dynamite, as far as I'm concerned.

I'm pretty much in lesbians with all the characters, but man do Trevor and Lamar stick out to me. Some of the best the series have ever had.
