Rockstar Grand Theft Auto VI

Obviously I wouldn't want them to rush it, but I also feel like there's a middle ground between rushing GTAVI out the door and taking twelve years to put out a new GTA.
Why though? They don't have to make another one. They were making more money then God off 5's MP still.

I'm speaking as a consumer, not as a shareholder, executive, or developer. GTAO's updates felt like they were made by Rockstar's interns with shareholders breathing down their necks, and the remasters were bare minimum. I see no problem with voicing my disappointment that a mediocre online mode became an excuse for them to take this long to get another proper GTA game made. When they made III they didn't proceed to focus all their efforts on a generational leap to IV, they gave use Vice City and San Andreas, with four we got two excellent DLCs and released V later that gen. After V they cancelled their DLCs and have now spent basically two entire gaming generations with nothing but mediocre GTAO updates.

[everyone clears out of Nov]

Nintendo: nah, still gotta release our holiday seller.

Games are art. I don't see them as being on a conveyor belt being constructed as fast as possible for me to consume. I don't feel entitled to another. The amount of time between GTA games is irrelevant, because there has been so many great games for me to experience in that time. Games I much prefer to any GTA. In that time period Rockstar even made this pretty decent game involving cowboys.

And I didn't say that they should be constructed as fast as possible, I'm simply disappointed that a company that used to be so prolific has slowed their creative output to such an extent that they've release a grand total of one actual game in the last 11 years. I don't see how thinking they're capable of making more than one good game in that amount of time means that I think they should function as a conveyor belt Ubisoft style, but thanks for implying that I did Darth.

You called yourself a consumer. That's your description. You did this while complaining that the games aren't coming out fast enough.

We know they've been working consistently since GTAV came out. We know the level of work that went into RDR2 and what is going into GTAVI. You're putting creative output on a time table. We know video game design has changed. Naughty Dog hasn't had a new game in over 5 years. Probably won't see another for a couple more. CDPR will have a similar distance between Witcher III and IV. We've heard nothing about the next God of War game after 3 years. Tears of the Kingdom was basically a reuse of the assets of Breath of the Wild. It took 6 years to come out after BotW took 6 itself. Silksong took 8 years.

Why are you acting like this isn't normal now?

To be blunt, I saw the news, got annoyed, and responded poorly. I don't like how much game development has slowed in the last decade, and Rockstar is one of the biggest examples of it.

While the push is slightly frustrating I also have plenty of other things (and games) to occupy myself with and at the end of the day I want the game to be as good as it can be. GTA has been one of those rare mark of quality franchises I've grown up with where every game has been an event. I wouldn't want it to be a CoD where they are just pumping out releases on an assembly line.

Rushing out GTA VI before it's finished would help nobody, look how many games have crash & burned because they've delayed a few times, thought they couldn't delay anymore, released game only to open up a can of worms regarding bugs & performance issues.

Given the murmurs of this being a $100/£75 game, delay it until November 2027 for all I care, give it the proper time to be finished, polished & thoroughly tested.

I gotta be honest, since this game has been in development for so long, when I heard that it was delayed again to November, I kinda felt like I was gonna wait that long anyway

It's also hard for games to recover from the "bad launch"-tag. If I tell people that one of my all time favorite gaming experiences was Cyberpunk 2077, some of them will still look at me in a weird way and go "that game sucked" because at launch it had a ton of issues, and it took them some time to iron out the kinks and smooth some of the edges. And I was one of the people who tried it at launch - didn't like it for some of those reasons but then came back to it. There's other games where bugs and glitches from a buggy launch become memes and then that's all people know when they think about the game.

Generally I'd say the GTA franchise is held in high esteem in most people's minds because the games have held up well and didn't suffer as much from "lets push it out early" issues. If people have waited over a decade since GTA 5, ultimately waiting another 6 months won't really make much of a difference.

I hope they have a pop radio station in this.

GTA V with songs from Kylie Minogue, All Saints, Black Eyed Peas, Fergie, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Mis-Teeq, Amerie, Rihanna and Christina Aguilera was like a flashback to my childhood, teenage and early twenties years. Late 90s/00s/early 10s.

Us PC players have the "self radio" in GTA 5 so we can play our very own music library. :word: Hopefully Rockstar implements the same feature in this.

Us low end PC players can only put about 50 songs in the Self Radio file, any more and if you're driving a fast car you outrace the game's ability to load the environment and you find yourself driving on air.
I know, I need a better rig a.s.a.f.p.
