Sorry for the translation, i hope you'll understans what i mean. So this is what i found about a long version of Spider-Man 3 (info from 9/22/2007):

"Spider-Man 3 will stand out (go out again) again in the USA and in Europe, but in its long version!
In knowledge, supplementary 30 minutes would be included in the future DVD which carries (wears) at the moment even no name (Spider-Man 3.5 or Spider-Man 3.1).
The film in long version would be also foreseen (planned) in cinemas for fervants admirers of the araignée.
The long version will go out with the simple version used(wore out), the European will have to as for them wait for The date is not fixed regrettably yet.
Big info:
Mister Raimi would have also asserted that the time foreseen (planned) for the character of Venom would be more than doubled.
So, the dissatisfied which would not have appreciated this character in his (her,its) brief moments of the original version should re-enjoy there."

Link please! If this is false, then I'll be pissed. If it's true, then it's kind of an odd time: why announce an extended cut 3 weeks before releasing the theatrical version?

I actually signed that petitiion for a director's cut and I think many of you should also.

A director's cut would greatly flesh out the story and maybe show us what Raimi and Co. were really thinking when trying to put the movie together as a whole.

the reason I'm not signing is because Sony is likely NOT going to receive or read the petition. Online petitions almost never work. they are more of a list of people who agree to an issue but it really isn't going to do a lot.
