What're the songs that you love...but can't stand the fact that they're being played too much?

Like..."I love this song...but I'd love it more if I didn't hear it all the damn time."

Mine's "Don't Stop Believin" by Journey...it's a great song, but when I hear it blaring from laptop speakers at school...ALL THE TIME...it's running the risk of being overexposed and I hate that.

Anyone else?

Stairway To Heaven for me. love the song but gets overplayed alot, mainly by people who don't know much more of led zeppelins music.

Any classic rock or pop song that is considered an anthem of sorts - "Stairway To Heaven," "Born To Run," Sinatra's "My Way," "We Are The Champions," etc. - all great songs by artists, but ones that can no longer be listened to on a consistently regular basis due to the massive overexposure to the point of annoyance.

Back in Black. I think I just about crapped myself the first time I heard that song, and now it's just... "eeh, like I havent heard this before"

Bohemian Rhapsody

What the hell am I sayin'? That never gets old.

Seriously, though, Free Fallin' by Tom Petty. They play it all the time where I'm from.

It really never does. It's a work of art, I tell you.

^ Yeah, mate. That song, 'Hallelujah' and 'More Than A Feeling' are the only songs I could listen to all day and never get tired of. :yay:

Pretty much any song that gets played in sports arenas or sports movies.

this is true.

Eye Of the Tiger also gets ruined, when you hear it in so many parodies of rocky, thou the song was always cheesy

Sweet child O' mine/November Rain

Enter Sandman/Nothing Else Mathers

Highway To Hell

Enter Sandman I agree with. Add to that every Nirvana single that was released (I can't stand Smells Like Teen Spirit anymore, I feel violently ill whenever I hear it) and Wonderwall by Oasis.

Enter Sandman. Metallica is my favorite band and I love almost everything they've done, but I just can't listen to Sandman anymore. What makes it worse is that this song is almost always part of their encore during concerts. I understand they have to play it, but I wish they'd get done with it earlier in the set.

I'm tempted to say One... but dammit I love that song too much.

Every Nirvana song.

I heavily disagree, there are some really great obscure songs out there by Nirvana just stay away from the singles and pretty much everything off of Nevermind that isn't Drain You.

Back in Black by AC/DC
omg i cant count how many times that has been played

I meant every song they play on the radio. I should have been more specific. Nirvana is probably my favorite band, but I can't listen to a good bunch of their songs because of excessive radio play, even 15 years after Cobain's passing. I HAVE to flip the station. Like you said, nearly every track off Nevermind is unlistenable at this point as are a few others like "Rape Me"

Songs by Ne-Yo. I remember when I listened to "Because of you" everyday, and I got so annoyed with it that that it made me resent Ne-Yo. Then I listened to him a few days ago, and I like his songs when they're not being played all the time.

Runnin Down a Dream by Tom Petty
Drive - Incubus
Kashmir and Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin
Bohemian Rhapsody and We Will Rock You - Queen
How Sweet It Is - James Taylor
Never Too Much - Luther Vandross

How about Iron Man from Black Sabbath or even Crazy Train from Ozzy?

Santana's "Smooth". I loved that song back in the day, but if got old real quit when they played it every 5 minutes in the summer of '99.

Oh & Hotel California - Eagles
