Depalma's scarface is a ***** movie, its one of the dryest movies ever, was panned and is only popular cause rappers model their lives after it- by far one of the most overrated movies in history

i too thought it was a pretty overrated movie, but thought it was blasphemy to say such a thing. i wouldnt even consider it a gangster movie, more like a drugwars film. i actually think pretty much most of Depalma's stuff is overrated. at least from wut ive seen.

anywho as a gangster movie, i think the O.G. of all time Godfather1 and 2 take the cake.

as a movie, Goodfellas is number 1, and anyone who puts The Departed over it is a foolio.




has anyone seen Once Upon a Time in America? ive yet too but have it somewhere down the line on my Netflix list

Martin Scorsese is truly one of the few who is able to bring that sense of scale and grandeur to a gangster movie. The Departed, Casino and Goodfellas aren't just simply gangster movies, but films that have deep characters, tragedies and credibility. Some directors say ''let's make a gangster movie'' -- and just try too hard, but with Marty it feels so natural. The Departed is a triumph beacuse it's feels so very much like the class of Hollywood in the old days. (40's and 70's in particular)
