Green Lantern movie Ring (4 inch movie figure version)

picked up a GL toy on saturday after contemplating the MOVIE version of DESTRO in his snow outfit or KILOWOG ...

unf i made the mistake thinking the figure would come with a wicked replica of the LANTERN RING....


incase you dont know what it looks like i am including a Spoiler for the figure i purchased..... NOT HAL btw

i picked it up with the intention of wearing it to the movie, (like so many other Fanboys , only to find the FRAGGIN ring is a size 3-5 i think) meant for a average sized person (5 foot nothin, or a 10 yr old boy ) not a guy who is 6' and 230 lbs

any ideas for remedying my ring problem (because i know im not the only one who PICKED UP the figure for a GL ring )

it actually suprised the ~~~t out of me the amount of crazy details they included in the 4 inch figs , where you would normally expect bootlegesque mistakes but the kilowog actually was well designed, i have honestly no choice but to use the old trick i learned in wizard about fixing a toys articulation ( using hot water to melt the plastic, then putting it in a cold cup of water to set the pose )

and im like out of ideas for that pose

havent seen the light up mask , but i have heard about the SDCC lantern ring exclusive .... havent found it via google yet tho.

mad as all hell at how i was conned , spent 9.and change on the Kilowog fig via toys r us and i cant return it cus ill have to give back the GL ring.

i think ill have to order the rings from the one site i found, all are in Sterling in several designs tho.

just tried using hot water on mine, it didn't even budge, i'll probably just use it for display til i find a metal one..... pretty bummed though cause i bought specifically for the light up feature

dark , i honestly wish you would post a pic of this thing we are talking about man. cus i am confused as hell ( like a troll out of place in RT.com ) about it.

also how could u use the hot water at all i tot u were talking about the ring, because it READ like the ring lit up not the mask.

I don't own either the fig/ring combo or the mask/ring combo but IMO if the rings are made of a hard enough plastic you could use a Dremel tool and sand down the inner "circle" of the ring to make it larger.

The figs themselves look OK and do have some decent texture sculpted to represent the various costumes between the characters. The facial likeness is also pretty decent considering the scale. What I have a problem with is the articulation or lack there of.

I walk in to Target and check out the figs probably about once a week, sometimes more since its very close to my job and I may go during lunch. I go in and check out what's new and here I see the new GL figs side by side with the new Captain America figs which're next to the Thor movie figs, the remaining Iron Man 2 stuff and so on. The GL figs are just flat out lacking compared to these other figs at a comparable price point. Now, most of the constructs that the GL figs have look pretty damn good so I'll give them that. On the flipside we get Thor and Cap figs with cheesy gimmicked weapons. But fig vs fig the articulation is hands down a no contest. And IMO it sucks because they make the figs very lame to play with or pose. The GL figs get a bit of a bonus with the ring, which lets kids play as a GL, so that's a plus for them. Marvel is selling all their cosplay stuff but none of it is as easy to pack in as the GL ring.

I like GL, I'm anticipating the movie and even though I have a moderately small 3 3/4" collection I would like to get a few of these figs but considering other options I just choose the ones that offer a little more bang for my buck.

I'm talking about the ring, the one that comes with the mask is similar to the one that comes with the basic figures, besides the fact it lights up
the problem with mine like the basic figures, is that the ring band is rediculously small and doesn't fit my hand

I kind of expected a lack of articulation in the 4 inchers... but the Movie Masters Hal's lack of articulation... A swivel waist? Really? They couldn't pull a Dark Knight Batman with Hal and give the figure decent articulation?

Plus... They're 15 friggin' dollars. A bit much, IMHO.

I've just become a bit of a tight wad when it comes to figures... If they lack certain aspects that I think are musts (good articulation, for example) I just tend to find reasons NOT to buy them.

So, the rings that are packed along with these 4 inchers are pretty much impossible to fit on a grown mans finger? I see people selling these things on ebay as "prop replicas" for 25-50 bucks.

I'm wondering if they can be customized in anyway... I'd be tempted to buy one just to try to "fix" the ring... If possible.

Only "cheap adults" perhaps. An adult adamant about wearing a good ol' fashioned Green Lantern ring would bother to wear a real one. Had a friend at my previous base that was a huge GL fan that had a real ring, as in actual silver and all that, of GL.

Some people are on a budget and fitting in a 100+ ring is out of the question. More so when you can some custom ring makers can make some amazing looking rings.

Makes sense, but doesn't DC Direct have some nice plastic ones that fit adults? Has all the other Lanterns' rings as well if I recall.

Either go to Toys R Us and get the die-cast ring/keychain, like I did, for the movie. Or try to find one of the DC Direct light up comic replica rings. I've found them all over the web for $18. I'll be getting the DC Direct 1:4 scale Power Battery and Ring set in July.
