I normally don't post anything in the sequel forums until after the first film comes out. But I got to thinking about the titles in the series today. Given that this isn't just a superhero movie and it's going to be a MAJOR science fiction franchise (most likely along with the status of Star Wars or Star Trek)... how would you title the follow ups.

Green Lantern 2, 3, 4... no way. Just wouldn't work at all.

Also the whole Part II, Part III, etc. thing wouldn't work either. Been done too many times before.

It's really too bad the Star Wars films did the "Episode" thing already because I think that it would really work for GL... but that made an idea pop in my head that would (imo) look great on screen, fit in the veign of science ficton franchises, and also pay homage to the comic books that it stems from...

GREEN LANTERN Volume II: Subtitle (what do you think?)

Of course that still leaves what the subtitles would be for the films. I think GREEN LANTERN Volume II: War of the Corps would be good for the second one.

The 2, 3, ... or II, III, ... are still a possiblity. It is also possible that they use a subtitle like "Green Lantern: The Emerald Crusader" or "Green Latern: The revenge of Sinestro" or something like that.

It looks like they are benchmarking this to the Harry Potter, a 7 or 8 film franchise. We might be getting more than just 2 or three films.

Well I'll try to come up with something that doesn't have numbers if that's the idea.

Green Lantern: Sinestro's Might

The Green Lantern Corps

The Lantern Corps War

Green Lantern: Battle For Oa

Green Lantern: Blackest Night

Green Lantern: Recharge

7 or 8 film franchise!?!?!? I say one film at a time...we don't even know if this is going to make it to #2.

Ya know, I usually don't like sequels that are just numbered, but for some reason for Green Lantern I feel like it works. The Lanterns themselves are numbered. What's wrong with GL2?

Just following it up with a number is repetetive of what almost every other sequel to every other film has done. The Green Lantern franchise should seperate it's self and have epic titles, along the lines of Star Wars or Indiana Jones.

That's my point in my post/this thread. Plus... Green Lantern 2 doesn't look right at all. And neither does Green Lantern II.

And I never said not have numbers at all... I'm saying that if there is a number in the title then it should be preceded by a term

I.e. GREEN LANTERN: VOLUME II

I say green lantern corp emerald warriors then recharged then war of light then blackest night follow the CB names you dont have to follow the story lines but the titles worked and fit perfectly i say why change perfection

I think we're going to get....if the movies are good and WB is lucky, 2/3 trilogies.

I think we'll get a Hal Jordan Trilogy, which they apparently have the outline for already, and then maybe a Guy Gardner Trilogy, and then a movie or two with Kyle Rayner and a final with John Stewart. It'd even be nice to see a return of Hal for a cameo or a role in the final film. I can see them including the Flash, maybe Martian Manhunter, etc incorporated into these films in roles as well.

Hal Jordan will be the center of all GL movies, even if its about him not having the ring and being replaced as Green Lantern. The to general audience "Hal Jordan IS Green Lantern." He is the heart of the movie franchise and they will not pass it on. Any other GLs will be co-stars and guest stars, supporting cast. They will never be the male lead as long as Ryan Reynolds wants the job. He's no more replacable in a movie series than James Bond or Harry Potter. IF he is replaced, it will be considered a spinoff or reboot, not a sequel, like when Zorro was replaced, like when The Karate Kid was replaced, like when William Shatner was replaced. Lose that dream before you get hurt.

Assuming they don't go with simple numbers:

Green Lantern 1: Rebirth (retroactively)
Green Lantern 2: Sinestro Returns
Green Lantern 3: Emerald Dawn
Green Lantern 4: Shadows of Oa
Green Lantern 5: Sector 2814
Green Lantern 6: Fall of Coast City
Green Lantern 7: Infinite Crisis

I think a lot of the titles of the story arcs from the comics would sound cheesy to mainstream audiences and be a turn-off factor.

I like the comic titles...
They could have started simply with Green Lantern (Emerald Dawn) since that is what the original draft was based on; they just changed Legion to Parallax after Johns came on board.
Then that would have opened the door to the second or third being called Green Lantern (Emerald Twilight) should they want to explore Hal’s temporary fall to darkness and inevitable return maybe in Green Lantern (New Dawn) rather then (Rebirth) .
Also the quotes taken directly from the Oath itself are always great, the second or the first could be called Green Lantern (Beware My Power).
Then the second, or wherever the downfall of Sinestro occurs could be called Green Lantern (Evil’s Might)
Then you also have the obvious Green Lantern (in Brightest Day) and Green Lantern (In Blackest Night) which work great depending where in the story arc you are.

Probably do what the X-Men do, add a number and a subtitle.

Green Lantern: Sinestro's Might

The Green Lantern Corps

The Lantern Corps War

Green Lantern: Battle For Oa

Green Lantern: Blackest Night

Green Lantern: Recharge

Green Lantern Corps should be a great Green Lantern sequel. It will give more highlights on the other notable Green Lanterns like Kilowog, Tomar, even the introduction of John and Guy.

Probably do what the X-Men do, add a number and a subtitle.

Green Lantern 2: The Emerald Knight

Green Lantern 2: Beware My Power

Green Lantern 2: The Green Lantern's Light

Green Lantern 2: The Corps Wants You

If they went fir a sequel calling it Green Lantern Corps might be the way to go. The focus shifts from Earth to Oa. If possible you have the Guardians decide some sectors need relief Lanterns or partners. Thus you introduce Stewart for Earth. Maybe something pops off with Carol and the Star Sapphires on Earth while Hal is on assignment with Kilowog and Tomar-Re investigating what Sinestro has been up to on Korugar. They find he's using the power of fear to keep Korugar in line, he gets expelled from thw GLC and then we find out he's contracted the Weaponers to forge more yellow rings. So at the end we are treated with yellow ring spreading to the various sectors, showing us that war is inevitable. Set up the Sinestro Corpa War.

They should just put the lantern logo behind a general title for the story like Emerald Twilight.
Repeating the name of the franchise in the title is redundant. They should learn to use them only as brands and nothing else.

Green Lantern: Yerr a Lantern, Halie.

Green Lantern: The Fast and the Wogiest

Green Lantern: Somewhere Oa The Rainbow

Green Lantern: There's Always Tomar-Re

Green Lantern: Lean, Mean, and Green

But seriously, I do think the idea of GL: Emerald Dawn works well. Sinestro's Might wouldn't be a bad choice either.
