I think these will be the lowest ranking members of the Corp so probably just lasers and futuristic weapons. I'm hoping we get a Centurion or 2 to show off some Novaforce though.

You mean in a SCI FI space action flick??????

I expected them to look 90 percent like the stuff we read!! I don't feel that the characters have to be as "restrained" as the earth bound heroes with all this "realism" crap! Thus Batman has to wear that rubber armor....etc.

Star Wars has Jedis running around in robes and tunics! We couldn't have Novas in blue and gold uniforms???

    That's asking too much??

The raging over Star Lord's helmet is ridiculous. In the opening scene he took it off because he'd just come in out of the elements and could probably see better without it. When he was in prison the lack of a helmet was natural. What sort of prison would allow an inmate to wear a helmet that covered his face and perhaps had communications devices or weapons concealed in it? The guards would take it along with anything else of value before locking Quill up.

Think, please, before you vent your raging fanboy entitlement on the rest of us.

yeah, if there is one thing this movie is packed to the gills with, it's realism. Good call.

As I said 12 hours ago, I'm loving the vibe of this.

Quill getting legitimately pissed off because someone is wearing his headphones is great.

Yes, it's quite sad that those particular people feel the need to waste their time coming in here when we already know what they're going to say. You could set your clock to them.

I think that was a symptom of nobody having a clear, strong vision for TDW.

They've already established that with Thor & co.

EDIT: Hey, we burned through a whole thread in just 12 hours!

Is understanding that a director can have his own vision when adapting a comic book into a feature film asking too much? Or do we all want these comic books to be lifeless copies of what's on paper? Movies who don't have a strong bond to the filmmaker's sensibilities tend to fall flat. And cool imagery from comic book pages won't make that better.

Relax, amigo. It's the story you're going for, not the costumes.

They were on display at SDCC last year. The others people posted were candid set photos.

We still haven't seen Glenn Close. I know that will be interesting.

The studio has made high tech thrillers, a monster movie, a WWII period piece, Sci-Fi fantasies, the first superhero mash-up and have a political thriller and a space epic in the can. Not enough variety for you?

I know......A tree man, a green girl, a raccoon that shoots guns....LOL!! And we gonna worry about how the Nova uniforms look that we couldnt have them look like the comics?? I figured this is where they could really cut loose....and give us exactly what we see on the pages!

We all freaked when we saw Thanos! That was great!! Can we not all remember how satisfying it was to see him unaltered on screen??? Are we gonna put the Supreme Intelligence in a gold fish bowl because he not realistic enough.

Look, I'm gonna go see this movie. But this just bugs me....

Hmm, I guess. He's probably just high up (in general ranking terms) then.

Peter Serafinowicz is listed as 'Nova Corps Officer', lol. Poor old Mr. No-Name.

It just dawned on me that he was Pegg and Frost's flatmate in Sean of the Dead.

    I think he's awesome.

He had comedy show on tv in the UK a few years back but only lasted one series, sadly.

Check out 'Brian Butterfield' on YouTube, it's comedy gold.

Aww, come on. Except for Iron Man 1 & 3 all the other efforts where kind of half-assed attempts at those genres. Like, let's have it be a WWII period piece, BUT NOT QUITE. Let's make this sci-fi fantay, BUT NOT QUITE. They've made half-steps, and that's about it. No bold strokes, as Shane Black likes to put it. They really were just superhero mash-ups, and that's about it. Some period stuff thrown or Shakespearian language thrown in there won't make them any less generic.

No ...I think the film maker should have some idea of the characters and resepect the source material that is already pretty darn successful before he got his hands on it.

I expect some changes....I already said that.

But this movie???? A SPACE FLICK WITH GREEN PEOPLE and talking raccoons??? There's no excuse to change a thing visually.....just give us a good story.

This was one of those RARE opportunities to not let realism get in the way! For once we all could have gotten the visuals we've all enjoyed on the pages.

Has this already been posted? James Gunn breaks down the Guardians trailer.

    My favorite bit:
Bolded part, FTW. Everyone loves to assume that Marvel dictates everything their directors do. I love it when directors set the record straight.
