They were already a team at the time they're captured in the trailer, hence the line "They call themselves the Guardians of the Galaxy."

Now, if you mean they formed in prison prior to what we saw I could buy that, but at the moment they're arrested in the trailer they've clearly already been working together.

It's actually a smooth move, considering Kimmel's got 3 million YT subscribers due to his popular bits, while Marvel Entertainment only has around 900,000. I think it'll be a bit more accessible online with "Recommended" videos and whatnot.

I'd be cool with that. Do an Oceans 11 kind of thing. The characters already all know each other and we get bits and pieces about their past from their dialogue. We don't necessarily need full flashbacks detailing how and when they met.

I don't need or want them to be heroes in the traditional sense. But murderers are something different that I personally don't want to see glorified. Being labeled as murderers because the law/Nova corps don't know their agendas is fine. But outright murderers, no thanks

I'm pretty sure Drax's murders are all criminals related to Ronan/Thanos, so it's all good there. The only real criminal on the team will probably be Gamora.

As for the Nova Corps, everything we've seen so far are just the stooges; when we see Richard Rider (or...Sam....I guess) he'll be in his full badass armor.

I say what we got in the movie is a bit more respectable.

This is what the A-tier Novas will look like either in GOTG2 or a Nova movie...hopefully both:

I dunno who else read it, but in Tarantino's leaked "Hateful Eight" script, we have a lot of characters meeting for the first time; but are aware of one another's reputations, so the backstory is spilled more naturally than "Who are you and what's your life story?" I think that's a good way to go, especially for characters who would be as notably reprehensible as this - especially Drax and Gamora.
