Can really feel the Star Wars vibe. Just looking at this picture makes me think of this song.

It's Ming the Merciless

Ming the Merciless with plumber's crack.
Seriously, I'm wondering who the two humans (humanoids) are, and why they look so....human. I was really thinking Quill would be the only human in space, but it's beginning to look like he'll have a lot of species company in this film. Could this be the 31st century after all, and PQ not only crosses space but time as well? Would be easier to reconcile the appearance of more humans (including, maybe, Nova....? fingers crossed) in space.
Also, that ship in the second pic is most likely the Guardians' own Icarus. The smaller ship below it, though, I'm getting a Nova Corps vibe from. Hate getting my hopes up this early, but I'm starting to see more entirely circumstantial evidence piling up for Nova in the film....
I agree. I took the hint back in 2011 after that reports came out talking about the Guardians being a serious contender for a film. I'm betting we'll see a similar situation when the Inhumans are announced.I never understood anyone's confusion. The property was mentioned as a phase 2 possibility several times over the course of 2011 and 2012. By the third or fourth mention, I took the hint and caught up on my Guardians reading.
After I saw the Avengers mid-credit scene, my certainty that Guardians of the Galaxy was the (then un-announced) second 2014 movie shot up to nearly 100%. Anyone who still thought we were getting Black Panther or Doctor Strange after seeing Thanos's ugly mug simply wasn't thinking.
I think it's more likely the big ship is Icarus, the 90's Guardians' ship. The small one may be a Nova ship...although I wouldn't be surprised if it's just Rocket and and Groot's old ship.Speculating, of course... could those be Nova ships?
I think the aesthetic and some scenes may be reminiscent of SW but honestly I don't think this movie will be nearly as similar in tone to SW as people seem to be thinking.Awesome stuff. Yeah, the SW-vibe is undeniable. I feel like they intended for this to be a return to that SW OT feeling before Disney bought Lucasfilm.
Now that Episode VII is due a year later than this, I wonder if we'll have a little bit of "Who wore it better?" between Gunn's GOTG and Abrams' Episode VII.
Drax is at the table, he's the one with his arms folded. Actually all the Guardians are there at the table. Drax is on the right of Rocket. Groot is to the right of Drax. Quill is next to Groot. I believe that's Gamora with the lighter blue face.

I think the 2 humanoid characters cherokeesam was mentioning as well as questioning are located down and to the left of Gamora and to the left of Quill. Personally though, I don't think they are necessarilly Guardians just because they are sitting at the same table, as much as they might be a group of mercenaries or space pirates that they are doing business with, not unlike Han Solo used the bar to conduct his business in Star Wars.

I didn't mean in a more comedic way, but okay.Well of course it won't be spot-on, we can probably expect something more comedic with a Marvel twist. But the way they've previously talked about it lead me to believe they want to at least sort of tap into that tone.
I didn't say those two guys are Guardians....
They're clearly "guests" at the table. Probably trying to haggle with Quill for whatever treasure he's got in his hand. My guess is: bad guys. All I'm wondering is who the **** they are....!
look like space thieves to me...great concept art by the wayI *know* all that....I was talking about the two human guys at the far left of the table. Ming the Merciless and Noodle from Gorillaz. They're not Guardians, and they don't look particularly friendly to the Guardians, either. I'm wondering who *they* are.
I don't think those two guys are anyone in particular. They probably have as much significance as these villains in Indiana Jones that he gets into a fight with in a market or like those at the beginning of Temple of Doom at the Chinese restaurant place with the turntable. Just throwaway villains.
Or a bit like the villains Captain Kirk gets into a barfight with at the beginning of Star Trek 09 before he's recruited by Captain Pike.
