Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator launches May 26 in Japan, adds new character Kum Haehyun
Published 18 hours ago. 29 comments.

New character included with early copies.

Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator will launch for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 in Japan on May 26, the latest issue of Famitsu reveals.

Standard copies of the game will cost 6,800 yen and a limited edition including a a visual fan book will cost 9,800 yen.

Early buyers will receive a product code to download new playable character Kum Haehyun, who is voiced by Hideaki Tezuka. Kum Haehyun is the head of the Kum family, and a descendant of the mind tuners. Although a female, she controls a human-type, macho, middle-aged man.

When attacked, the girl in him can inadvertently be seen. She is described as a character with moves that aren’t so troublesome to pull off, which is rare in Guilty Gear. While it doesn’t mean her attacks are slow, her battle style emphasizes power and the weight of each move.

The fighting game, an update to Guilty Gear Xrd: Sign, is also due out in North America in spring 2016. In addition to Kum, it also features new fighters Johnny Sfondi, Jack-O, Jam Kuradoberi, and Dizzy.

Thanks, Hachima Kikou, Famitsu.

Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator Newcomer Kum Haehyun Gets New Screenshots. January 20, 2016 . 7:30am

Arc System Works has shared the latest on Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator with a look at some new screenshots for the recently introduced newcomer, Kum Haehyun.

Arc System Works recently revealed a new character for Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator with Kum Haehyun, and Famitsu has updated with a first look at some screenshots for the newcomer.

Kum Haehyun is a descendant of “Tuners,” and also the head of the Kum family. While Kum Haehyun is actually a girl, she rides inside a cyborg. The Kum family have the ability to control the flow of energy, and they’re the only people in the world with this ability.

The cyborg, called “Jonryoku Kum,” does the fighting, and has the appearance of an old martial arts master. It isn’t all about appearances, as it can back up with some legit martial art moves… but you still get to see a look at Kum Haehyun inside whenever she gets hit.

By using the parameter, she’s able to pull off the some special moves, and they’re looking pretty smashing so far. The Dust Attack shown on te right looks like it has quite the range.

Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator will release in Japan for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on May 26, 2016.

Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator details new character Kum Haehyun

Tons of screenshots of the first-print bonus fighter.

Arc System Works has released new Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator information and screenshots, introducing new character Kum Haehyun, who is included with the game as a first-print bonus downloadable fighter.

Get the information below.
New Story Chapter

GGXrd-Rev_01-28-16_001.jpg

This game continues from the story of the previous game with the arcade version’s “Episode,” as well as adds an new episode
In Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator, there is the arcade version’s story “episode” that continued from the previous game, as well as a brand new episode.

Additionally, the game lets players see a synopsis of the story until now, so even first time Guilty Gear players can jump into the game and be able to enjoy the story.
The characters Johnny, Jack-O, and Jam appeared in the arcade version, as well as hints at new characters?

Online Battles

GGXrd-Rev_01-28-16_002.jpg

In addition to the cross-platform play and match-making lobbies from the previous game, additional “amazing features” have been added. What can you expect? More details in a future update.

Tutorial Mode

GGXrd-Rev_01-28-16_003.jpg

Tutorial Mode has been redone from the previous game. It’s more enjoyable, easier to understand, and lectures players on the fundamental knowledge of a fighting game.

Kum Haehyun

GGXrd-Rev_01-28-16_004.jpg

  • CV: Hideaki Tezuka
  • Height: 246cm
  • Blood-Type: A
  • Weight: 199kg
  • Birthday: December 5
  • Hobbies: Manging his beard, making accessories
  • Likes: Morals, the chains fitted to his arms
  • Dislikes: People who don’t use all their power
A descendant of those who once were on the verge of destruction due to Justice’s attack. The ability to tune into the spirit circulating in all living things is yielded only between blood relatives, and is one of the most rare existences in the world.

Haehyun is the currently family head of the Kum family of those descendants, who believes that one must always use all their power, and has the deep trust of those around her.

GGXrd-Rev_01-28-16_005.jpg

For generations, the Kum family has only permitted a male successor to take over as head of the family, so she spends her everyday controlling and riding inside a human-type cyborg named “Jonryoku Kum.” But the fact that a girl is inside Jonryouku Kum seems generally not known.

GGXrd-Rev_01-28-16_006.jpg

Haehyun is an uncommon character in the world of Guilty Gear, who uses less labor. Be that as it may, it’s not that her single-swing style is slow, her battle style emphasizes the power of single blows. While her special moves are aligned with her standard performance moves, her performance changes with additional input, so there is a wide range possible tactics.

For example, her special move where she dropkicks an enemy to the sky can be turned into a powerful rush attack technique with additional input. Through additional input with her missile-based special move, you can control the orbit of the missiles. She’s developed with the concept of “easy to handle, difficult to master.”

First look at Raven in Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator
Published 13 hours ago. 22 comments.
That Man's right-hand man, who feels only pain.

Famitsu has gone up with its latest online preview of Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator, introducing newly confirmed playable character Raven.

Raven, voiced by Hiroki Yasumoto, is the right-hand man and swears absolute loyalty to “That Man,” and holds the key to the story. He has an immortal body and no life span. Although he feels almost nothing, only pain lets him taste that fresh sensation.

Raven has long-reaching attacks, meaning he specializes in fighting from the middle of the field. His biggest appeal is his “I Want It Here” special move which fills a special gauge that powers up all sorts of his attacks. During the power-up, in addition to increasing his pure offensive ability, it also changes the performance of some of his special attacks.

Since receiving too much damage will naturally knock you out, managing Raven’s health is more important compared to when playing as other characters.

Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator is due out PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on May 27 in Japan, June 7 in North America, and June 10 in Europe.

Power up by taking in your opponent's attacks.

Arc System Works has released new Guilty Gear Xrd: Revleator information and screenshots, detailing recently confirmed playable character Raven and teasing the reveal of Dizzy.
■ Raven (voiced by Hiroki Yasumoto)

GGXrd-Rev_02-26-16_001.jpg

  • Height: 181cm
  • Origin: Medieval Germany (Holy Roman Empire)
  • Blood Type: A
  • Birthday: March 28
  • Likes: People who make him feel like killing, people who make new discoveries and inventions
  • Dislikes: Himself, for he cannot love anything
The right-hand man of “That Man,” and swears absolute loyalty to him. He has an immortal body and no life span.
Because he has repeated the same routine for several centuries, he can no longer feel anything in almost all of his stimuli. Only “pain” can let him enjoy a fresh sensation.

■ Raven’s Battle Style

Increase your power with the opponent’s attacks!

Through Raven’s “I Want It Here” special move, a gauge will fill as Raven receives attacks, and his own attack power will be increased. Not only does it increase his attack power, but it also changes the performance of some of his techniques. Because the outbreak and power of techniques is strengthened, you can progress the battle advantageously while aggressively receiving attacks

GGXrd-Rev_02-26-16_002.jpg

GGXrd-Rev_02-26-16_003.jpg

Take advantage of Raven’s long reach!

Regular attacks are exceedingly efficient in mid air with a long reach span in all directions. Through a number of attacks that make use of his long limbs, conquer from the middle of the field.

GGXrd-Rev_02-26-16_004.jpg

Throw Needles at the Opponent!

Raven can throw needles at opponents that slow down the opponent’s movement speed. He can also make use of his projectiles to restrain his opponent from moving.

GGXrd-Rev_02-26-16_005.jpg

■ New Playable Character Dusty

Following Kum Haehyun and Raven, Dusty will also be a new playable character in the console version of Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator. Her participation was determined via a player election, where she took the number-one spot. Look forward to her!

Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator Shares More On Its New Network Lobby And Other Modes. March 24, 2016 . 9:45am

In addition to the new and improved Network Lobby with a 3D environment, Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator adds various ways to help you become a better player, along with other new features.

Arc System Works is adding a bunch of new features to Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator, the updated version of their popular fighter. Here are more details on its new network lobby, first wave of DLC, and more.

The above is a look at the renewed Network Mode, where you’ll get to move around using your avatar in a 3D environment. Here, you’ll get to move around the new lobby and the player match field to communicate with other players. The lobby features each of the game’s modes that you’ll get to enjoy while waiting on opponents.

The new virtual stick is a feature that will allow you to see an indicator on how to perform moves better. It shows an example of what you need to do to perform commands on the top and the bottom shows what you’ve inputted, so you can use it as a reference to correct your errors and in order to get those combos down.

The “Challenge Mode” has been renamed to “Combo” mode, and it’ll teach you how to use each and every character from the bottom to top. Again, the Mission Mode will have more volume than before.

As for the 1st wave of DLC, it’ll release simultaneously with the game in Japan on May 26. It features the “Additional Color Pack” with 5 different colors for each character. There’s also the “Arrange System Voice” which features the voice of Slayer and the other new characters.

Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator will release in Japan on May 26 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. North America will get the game on June 7, and Europe on June 10, 2016

Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator’s Stylish Is Educational And Looks Good. May 30, 2016 . 1:30pm

Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator is not only great for experimenting with new characters and setting a good pace for yourself, it’s also good for getting fantastic screenshots.

28 comments Read >

Arc System Works has been gradually implementing systems into its fighting games to make them more welcoming to newcomers. BlazBlue Continuum Shift kicked it off with Stylish Mode, a control scheme that allows someone to launch into combos and kick off special moves by mashing buttons. You don’t need to worry about precise inputs or memorize triggers. You press any buttons you like to make the magic happen. And now, with Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator, players can choose Stylish Mode for the first time.

The option comes up after selecting a character in Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator’s Online, Arcade, Versus, and M.O.M. modes. You can go with Technical, which is the traditional control scheme, or Stylish. Each of the input buttons ends up being tied to specific sorts of attacks, rather than having each button tied to punch, kick, slash, and heavy slash attacks. Instead, you’re getting one button with what you’d consider light attacks, another with normal attacks, a third with heavy attacks, and a fourth for special attacks and Overdrives.

Depending on your character’s position in relation to an opponent and their stance, as in if they’re standing still, crouching, or jumping, they’ll launch into different combos. Your character will also automatically guard against high and middle attacks when standing still. (Crouching attacks will still hit you.)

http://www.siliconera.com/postgallery/?p_gal=564012|1

There is a downside to this, of course. You aren’t going to have every combo available to you with Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator’s Stylish mode. You also won’t have the traditional inputs that will allow you to specifically launch into a certain attack. It isn’t actually teaching you practical moves, in the same way the Tutorial does. It also isn’t guaranteeing you a win. You’ll take 20% more damage than you normally would when using Stylish. Someone who knows what they’re doing Online or in Versus won’t be at a disadvantage against a Stylish player. Their know-how can take advantage of the newcomer’s limited range and zip in to tear at their health. Still, a Stylish player won’t be completely defenseless.

Stylish mode helps you establish a rhythm. Finding a good pace for yourself and a character is important in Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator. While you aren’t learning the proper inputs and triggers, you do work out timing and find out how various characters react.

I found Stylish mode quite valuable for working out some Jack-O’ strategies and settling into a groove, as it let me experiment with her summonable minions and get an idea of what would and wouldn’t work for her. I wasn’t able to go ahead and begin detailed Organ Deployment, but I could Ghost Set some additional allies and see how they would and wouldn’t work.

http://www.siliconera.com/postgallery/?p_gal=564012|2

This brings up another important point about Stylish mode. There are some characters who won’t be at their best when you use it. Jack-O’ is one of them. It isn’t possible to reliably level up and utilize her ghosts. You need the greater range Technical offers. Ramlethal and Johnny are other characters who are best in Technical mode.

His combos require a certain level of precision that Stylish doesn’t afford. Characters like Sol, Ky, Faust, Jam, and Sin lend themselves best to Stylish. You can really settle in and perform some great combos and attacks.

Now, if you’re an advanced player who’s been with Guilty Gear since the beginning, it’s easy to gloss over all of this. You know what you’re doing. Stylish is something you don’t exactly need. For you, I’d say there’s still a point. Do you like taking screenshots? Stylish is fantastic for grabbing stills. While some timing is involved, since you need to press the Share button on the PlayStation 4 a few seconds before the moment you want to capture, it is a great way to get fantastic action shots.

(Though that obnoxious “Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator © Arc System Works” watermark on the bottomdoes detract from the resulting image.) Pulling off Jam’s Choukyaku Hou’oushou and Johnny’s That’s My Name were incredibly easy in Stylish, allowing me to capture them at their flashiest moments.

Stylish mode isn’t something you’ll want to use all the time in Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator. Relying on it isn’t as satisfying as using it to see how certain characters work, working on your timing, and bettering yourself because of it. But, it does have its moments and serves a helpful purpose, even if you do know what you’re doing. Stylish is a well implemented mechanic and, while beginners will appreciate it most, some people who know what they’re doing may find it useful for experimenting with a new character or getting a great screengrab.

Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator will come to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in North America on June 7, 2016. Europe will get it a few days later on June 10, 2016.

You Need A Good Memory To Use Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator’s Kum Haehyun. June 8, 2016 . 1:30pm

Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator’s Kum Haehyun is the sort of character that will require you to accurately read the flow of a battle to understand which variation of a special or Overdrive to use.

New characters joining an existing character roster is always an exciting event. You’re getting an opportunity to possibly find a new main and employ new strategies that revolve around new, perhaps even unexpected, movesets. Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator introduces Kum Haehyun, Jack-O’, and Raven to the cast, and each one of these characters requires you to think a little differently about how you play the game. Kum Haehyun, in particular, requires a keen understanding of her moveset and a careful means of judging the flow of battle.

Kum Haehyun is the most straightforward of the new characters. She’s a Tuner that rides inside of a robot that looks like an old man. From her outward appearance, you’d expect her to play like Potemkin, but looks can be deceiving. Her attacks do feel quite deliberate, since she doesn’t use the gatling system for combos and relies on a link-based system that alters attacks with subsequent button presses, and she has large hitboxes, but she’s more newcomer friendly than the other fighter, doesn’t move slowly, and has no armored moves.

For those unfamiliar with the terms, other Guilty Gear characters utilize a gatling combo system, where you can be in one position with one attack, then continue to lead into additional attacks or specials from that point by pressing additional buttons and directional inputs. With Kum Haehyun, pressing additional buttons after an attack will alter that attack and lead into additional hits.

Plenty of her attacks show how one little alteration can change how Kum Haehyun’s ability works. Tuning Ball is perhaps the best example. This is her standard projectile special. Pressing slash at the end of a 236 forward semi-circle move will send off a basic, blue projectile that hits once and can be moved forward and back with the forward and back directional buttons after it’s launched. If someone presses heavy slash instead of slash, it’ll instead be red and hit your opponent multiple times. You may want to go with the charged version if you’re able to stagger your enemy with a Command Normal beforehand. The Falcon Dive kicks can be held at the end to charge the attack and break through a guard. Aerial Falcon Dive also offers varying trajectories with the forward and back buttons and I’ve used it as an anti-air move.

Even Kum Haehyn’s Enlightened 3000 Palm Strike and Celestial Tuning Ball Overdrives can be customized. Enlightened 3000 Palm Strike alters the attack in one of two ways, depending on the attack pressed at the end of the input sequence. It’s unblockable if you press heavy slash at the end, which some may want to do to perhaps guarantee damage to their opponent. Pressing Dust at the end will lower the Burst gauge in exchange for enhancing the attack. Both options also allow you to move the opponent closer or further away from you with the directional buttons. Meanwhile, Celestial Tuning Ball is an upgraded version of the standard Tuning Ball that can be moved all around the screen with the directional buttons. You can send it anywhere you’d like, not just forward and back like the standard tuning balls. Each one gives you control over the battlefield and situation. Even if the setup isn’t ideal when you launch into the Overdrive, the ability to move your opponent or the oversized Tuning Ball projectile will help you land a substantial hit.

All of this means that people using Kum Haehyun need both a good memory and to have the ability to read the flow of a fight. You need to know which moves are and aren’t right for any given situation and the inputs you need to make things work in your favor. You have to have practiced with her enough times to move the Tuning Ball projectiles around quickly and efficiently once launched. It’s even important to get the timing right so you can use a Command Normal at the right time to stagger a foe, so you could maybe transition into a Falcon Dive or Enlightened 3000 Palm Strike.

The funny thing is, despite the intricacies of her moveset, Kum Haehyun isn’t one of the hardest Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator characters to use. It could take two weeks or so before you perfect her, but it isn’t too difficult to start understanding what does and doesn’t work. Especially if you take the time to go through the Dojo mode with her. Though, I’d also recommend taking her through as many online matches as you can. While the Dojo is a tremendous help, the best practice is against other people. You’re going to want to experience a wide range of matchups to figure out when certain variations of her Specials and Enlightened 3000 Palm Strike Overdrive should be used. Just make sure you don’t use Stylish, unless you’re trying to capture screenshots. You need the precise inputs only Technical can offer.

Simply put, Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator’s Kum Haehyun is a character that requires you to read a battle and not hesitate when it comes to triggering specials. She gives you a lot of options, which means you can switch things up as the battle’s pace ebbs and flows. Learn how to control projectiles properly, as a means of anti-air defense and to hit while staying out of reach of certain characters. Know when to go with a standard or charged special. If you put in enough time, she can be a rather versatile fighter.

Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator is immediately available for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in North America. It will come to Europe on June 10, 2016. Kum Haehyun is immediately available in the North American PlayStation Store and free until June 21, 2016.
