Gunman dead after barricading himself into German cinema

A GUNMAN WHO opened fire at a cinema in Germany has been shot dead by police, local media report.

Faz reported earlier that several people had been taken hostage, but reports now suggest that the man has been shot dead after police stormed the cinema.

Public broadcaster Hessischer Rundfunk said that 25 to 50 people were hurt although this has not yet been confirmed by authorities, and some reports said they were injured by tear gas.

The difference in media reporting is obvious.

According to German press agency dpa, German security services currently believe the gunman to be a “confused individual” rather than a terrorist.

An alarm gun? It's good to hear that nobody was killed, though. It would be nice if more attacks ended with no innocent fatalities.
