Tobey Maguire and Jake Gyllenhaal are in negotiations to team up for Jim Sheridan's "Brothers" for Relativity Media reports Variety.

A remake of Susanne Bier's 2004 Danish-language war drama, the story centers on a man (Maguire) who is sent to fight in Afghanistan while his black-sheep younger brother (Gyllenhaal) cares for his wife and child.

David Benioff is writing with shooting scheduled to begin in early November.

I initially thought this would be some kick ass action comedy thing with the both of them as brothers but guess not.. it's more hippie crap

Lemme guess... Maguire returns to find himself with a few extra kids that weren't there before he was sent off to war right?

no kids.. but jake was taking care of the more intimate 'jobs' too ;)

you wanted tobey maguire to be in a 'kick ass action comedy'?

Okay, this should be very interesting.

If anything Maguire and Gyllenhal should play the hardy boys.

Who's the wife and why does this sound like 'Cider House Rules' only reversed?

Sounds interesting. It could work and I could see them playing off of each other VERY WELL.

Could be really good.

Sounds interesting, both are great actors so at least the performance aspect should be good. Let's hope the movie turns out well.

i wonder who the chicks gonna be hmm

OMG how weird because like Jake almost played Spidey is Spider-Man 2...OMG

[/fanboy]

works cuz they kinda look like each other, cept jake's the younger better looking of the two

They both look alike, so I could see them as brothers. The wife should be played by Kirsten Dunst just to make things akward for them, since they both dated her.

Portman in Love Triangle with Maguire and Gyllenhaal
Source: Variety
October 3, 2007

Natalie Portman has signed on to star alongside Tobey Maguire and Jake Gyllenhaal in Jim Sheridan's love-triangle drama Brothers for Relativity Media, reports Variety.

Based on Susanne Bier's 2004 Danish-language film, the story centers on a man (Maguire) who is sent to fight in Afghanistan while his black-sheep brother (Gyllenhaal) cares for his wife (Portman) and child.

Connie Nielsen (Gladiator) played the wife in Bier's version, speaking in her native Danish.

David Benioff (The Kite Runner) is writing the remake. Relativity's Ryan Kavanaugh is producing alongside Michael De Luca and Joni Sighvatsson, with shooting scheduled to begin in early November.

Two hot guys and the great Natile Portman...the news just keeps getting better IMHO.

^^^

Agreed, I wouldn't mind to see such film as this one.

This sounds very interesting.

This will prove they're not the same person. We have never seen them in the same room together.
