I dunno man. Going on a site dedicated to cheating, and giving all your personal information... that's pretty stupid. I also think you then, at least morally, you deserve what you have coming to you.
I think cheating is bad enough if it's a one time thing. A crime of passion so to speak. But if you actually premeditate it to the point that you sign up to a website which exists solely to facilitate cheating, then, you really have no moral defense.
So, yeah. I'll play a tiny violin for them.
No more stupid than giving personal information on any site, but due to moral and social stigmas we perceive this as being more stupid when it's really no different. In both cases a person is putting personal information on the web and on company servers that could be used to harm them.
As for cheating, I don't see it as a black and white issue. Marital affairs are grey. People get married too young, get stuck in a bad marriage and can't afford divorce, or have kids and don't want to divorce for the kid's sake, grow apart from their spouse, can no longer please their spouse sexually, some people are just lonely even in marriage and want to feel wanted etc. And I get why most spouses engaged in affairs sneak around rather than asking permission. Even broaching the subject of having other partners can make an already unstable marriage worse or cause a break. And beyond a certain age being single is a terrifying prospect. I do think under ideal circumstances the right thing to do would be to discuss it with one's spouse, but circumstances can vary.
People that have a fetish for married people and repeatedly act on it, or a married person that enjoys the thrill of cheating obviously aren't good people but some people who have or are cheating aren't the scrum of the earth. And no I don't expect everyone to share this view.
As for the murder scenario, it's not as far fetched as y'all might think. Spouses can turn violent. Especially over an affair. Near my area a soldier was doing his tour of Iraq and his wife cheated on him. He found out and waited for his opportunity. His tour was over. He came home and he found the guy she slept with and stabbed him to death and cut the guy's head off. That's an extreme case, but when you're dealing with a website with potentially thousands of members you're dealing with a large group of humans who will react in a variety of different ways to finding out that their spouse is cheating on them. And news articles have been posted on here about angry women cutting their husbands penis off, shooting their spouse, stabbing their spouse etc. And consider what would happen if an already abusive spouse finds out that his wife is cheating on him.
So yeah these hackers are putting people in danger. Even if only one member of that site is physically harmed because of these hackers that is one person too many imo. And it can be argued that they got themselves into this situation but like I said not everyone who cheats does it is a scumbag and even if they are they don't deserve to be put in harm's way by hackers. If they are going to be punished it should be in a court of law not by hackers with certain morals.
