The Force Awakens Hamill and Fisher have known since last year!

I heard a rumor last year that sources believed the 3D releases were to fund a sequel trilogy the way that the the special edition released funded the Prequels.

 

I am curious if "last August" meant the August that just past (2012) or August 2011?

 

Don't know if that's precisely the case, but they were obviously tied. The Sequel Trilogy rumours were around since last years and they were tied with the 3D re-releases. It was 1996 all over again.

 

I think this is very interesting news, I think Mark Hamill would definitely be interested in returning.

 

If Luke's in the script, Mark's in.

 

I sure hope he is in the script then!

 

I feel Mark and Carrie might come back. Maybe even Harrison, if he's up to it. If not, they could say that Han died or he's on a very long republic mission.

 

The idea of Old Master Luke is definitely growing on me, though he'd have to get into better shape for it and if Carrie's up for it then seeing Leia again might work if she plays an elder stateswoman version. And if they come back then Ford should too, but he's the most doubtful at this stage.

 

It would be nice to see Mark as Jedi Master Luke Skywalker ala an old Ben Kenobi. Same with Carrie. As for Ford, the best you could hope for is a cameo of a retired general. Odds are Solo will die in between Episode VI and VII, considering Ford's disdain of Star Wars.

 

Hasn't he lightened up a bit the last couple of years or so? I know I've seen him in some recent docs. about the OT.

 

Yeah, there was an article from late last years where Lucasfilm denied a sequel trilogy was coming. I was sad at the time, but the rumors were huge for a brief moment, so now I'm figuring there was a leak somewhere, and Lucasfilm had to put the kibash on it before it got out of hand. But now with the announcement, I'm sure we'll hear more of this.

Glad to hear Mark is in if Luke is in the script. Would like to see Carrie back. I can't see her running around blasting stuff, but would be nice to see her in a Senatorial role at least. Harrison is probably a pipe dream but man, I really want it to happen.

 

I doubt Harrison would have a big role but he's very loyal to George. Without Lucas he wouldn't have a career. Ford also gets on very well with Carrie so if she gets on board then its more likely they will get him for a week or two.

 

Oh, and about me saying Ford wouldn't do another Star Wars, I also thought there would never be an Episode VII either. So you never know...

I think if George asked, he could get Ford to do a brief cameo.

 

Acting wise, I don't wanna to see 'Sleepwalk Solo' either. That would break my heart.

 

I'm starting to think Ford may be a possiblity.After all,it's not like he's had a string of hits that puts him in demand lately.

Not a huge role,of course,but a cameo may not be out of the question.....

If Ford doesn't return, I won't be too crazy on Carrie returning, either, tbh.

 

i do remember Ford doing an interview years ago,during the PT releases, that if George asked him to do another SW film,he would, out of a sense of owing him that much since George basically gave him a career. so i'm sure if Solo's in the 1st film,he'll do it. not saying he'll bring any enthusiasm or joy to the part,since it would basically be like paying off a favor owed...

 

I wouldn't think Han would have much of anything to do anyway. Let's say they use the Solo kids in the film... maybe you'll get a scene with Han and Leia and their kids having a dinner or a visit or something. Then the adventure starts and you don't see Han anymore. Maybe Leia, if she's in government.

Luke will be the most prominent of the OT characters though, since he'll no doubt be head of the Jedi Council.

This is something to be considered. I don't think Ford needs to come back in a starting role. Just a cameo appearance will do.

 

I agree with you. I don't really need to have Solo in all films so if he was in Episode: VII as a small cameo, I would be totally happy.

 

Everyone keeps getting this wrong; Hamill and Fisher were told THIS past August (last August), not August of 2011. The biggest clue to this is the mention of Kathleen Kennedy; she didn't join Lucasfilm until June of this year, so there is absolutely no way that Lucas could or would have told Hamill and Fisher about his passing the SW baton to her in August of 2011 because she hadn't even joined Lucasfilm at that point.

 

Why didn't they tell us? I thought we were friends.
