And to think, I remember your 30th anniversary like it was only yesterday. :)

50 years ago today Amazing Fantasy #15 came out? If Pete aged in real years he'd be 65 (or 66 depending on when you think he was bitten by the spider)!

To celebrate, tell us about your first exposure to a Spidey comic if you can remember. How old you were, where you bought it, etc. Also what was the first Spidey moment that really hooked you and made you realize you'd be a fan for life (this might not necessarily be the first issue you bought).

And post anything else you want to commemorate Spidey's b-day (birthday messages, what you think the comic will be like in the next 50 years, etc).

I'm short on time so I'll do my answers later.

Happy Birthday Spider-Man! My first exposure to a Spider-Man comic book was when I bought Marvel Masterworks Spider-Man Volume 1. I read all of the classics, and loved them. Then I started reading Ultimate Spider-Man, and then began to buy a lot of other classics at several comic book stores.

Years before the movie came out, I always watched the Spider-Man cartoon in the 90s. I think that really got me into the character.

When Quesada made the One More Day storyline, was he erasing all of Spider-Man's history or just everything after the Amazing Spider-Man reboot? Remember, after 400 or so issues, they started Volume 2 and retold the origin.

Wasn't AF15 released in August?

I read that the day it hit stores was June 5th the other day.

The August cover date was basically for the retailers to know how long to keep the issues on the racks.

Either way, HAPPY 50TH SPIDEY!!! Here's to another 50 years of fun, and beyond!

Will comics live that long?

My first exposure to Spider-Man that I can remember was around 1972, and I was watching the syndicated 60's toon on TV, and I remember Spidey fighting the Scorpion... I loved him... he was cool looking, had neat powers, and he was funny...

The following years, I would read a few comics... some ASM's, some MTU's and some Marvel Tales... the first Spider-Man comic I bought with my own money was ASM #148, back in 1975...

Started collecting monthly in 1978 with ASM #183.

Still buying to this day.... :word:

Happy 50th Spidey...

:yay:

The first Spider-Man comic I can remember getting, Spectacular Spider-Man #215, with the Scorpion on the cover! Probably 7 years old. Been a fan ever since. I can't recall a conscious moment when I realized I would be reading Spider-Man for the rest of my days. But I can say I don't think I would even be the same person if I knew nothing about Spider-Man. The 90's cartoon expanded Spidey's awesomeness to me. I also had Spider-Man Adventures #1 telling the shows pilot in original comic form. Then before that show was a twinkle in Fox's eye I was playing Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin for Sega Genesis...not to mention every Spider-Man game since then...on like 5 different systems. Being a Dad ain't stopping me from picking up The Amazing Spider-Man for PS3. I remember drawing my own Spider-Man vs. The Lizard comic in 1st or 2nd grade. A bunch of parodys I used to write and draw in High School. Halloween costumes. I've got a whole long box devoted to just Spider-Man comics, Amazing, bunch of 90's stuff and from the New Avengers arc in issue 520-something to the current issue. Spectacular, Ultimate, Sensational, Friendly Neighborhood, Web of Spider-Man, bunch of mini series and TPBs. Add to that 3 awesome movies, soon to be 4, and there is pretty kuch no entertainment medium Spider-Man hasn't impacted me in. I'm a Web head for life.

Did anyone ever watch that Spider-Man tv series from the 70's starring Nicholas Hammond?

Yep. My first exposure to the character was through that series along with repeats of the 60s animated tv show.

Despite the deviations from the source material there is a hilarious moment that sums up the appeal of Spider Man as a dorkish superhero in an ep where Hammond's Parker is fired from The Bugle by Jameson and as he's about to leave his office he awkwardly asks Jonah if he can keep his ID badge as a souvenir. For me watching the character brought to life was as exciting as watching the Raimi series years later.

Chinese Web! I thought that movie was LEE-GIT when I was a kid! The scene where Spidey climbs that skyscraper and takes on the Chinese mob, classic.

My first exposure to Spider-Man was when I was 4 years old, I remember it vividly.
I was at my Nan's (RIP) house, and she was flicking through the satellite channels.
On the screen was a re-run of the 1960s Spider-Man show.
I was fascinated, I sat down and watched.
I've been a Spidey fan ever since.
I watched the 90s animated series religiously when I could, I've brought the series on DVD, I still love watching the episodes.
And everyone seems to love The Spectacular Spider-Man

The first Spidey comic/issue I ever read was a re-print of Amazing Fantasy #15 in volume 1 of Marvel Masterworks: The Amazing Spider-Man.

Here's to another 50 years, and beyond!
