According to Moriarty and other reviews, it is. But George Miller made the Babe movies the same way, with dark tones and themes, so it's not a shock. I actually want to see this along with Casino Royale now.

I'm with you terry. I just assumed it'd be another stupid cgi animated movie but now after reading these reviews, I'm actually interested in seeing it.

I've been looking forward to it since the production start

Ditto. I'm completely serious when I say that I expect The Fountain to have some competetion for best film of the year with this.
Because it's toe tapping, dammnit!

ummm anyone care to elaborate? i havent read anything at all about this movie having dark undertones or themes at all so i was hoping someone could explain a little bit

in a nutshell, the plot involves a penguin questioning the other penguins' belief in god and the other penguin beliving in aliens and there's some kind of halucination sequence at seaworld or something.

in other words, it's only stupid happy dancing penguing movie for the first half and cluterf*** for the next half.

A couple reviews compare it to Don Bluth's stuff from the 1980's, like Secret of NIMH and Land Before Time as far as the dramatic stuff and semi-political statements.

Probably going to check this out tonight after work, and catch a late show of 007 afterwards. The reviews for both of these are excellent though.
