i know its a tad early (2 days), but Happy Purim to all my fellow Jews out there! If you aren't Jewish and you know a Jew, go ahead and wish him or her a Happy Purim (and remind that person to hear Megillah!)!

A Frelichan Purim!

Not Jewish but Happy Purim anyway.

Just for people who are curious about this holiday:
At The night before We listen to someone sing the Book of Esther.
then, We listen agian in the morning.
Then People dress up in costumes and people go giving out food to freinds (sort of like reverse trick or treating)
In the afternoon people have parties and get Drunk.

Happy Purim. I just think this thread needs a scene from Home for Purim

I thought Moses got pissed the **** off when people did that upon his arrival? I know there were idols present but from my understanding one of the problems was that people were drunk out of their minds... anyways, what's the meaning of the holiday?

Where do I sign up?

Never mind, it's when Xerxes's Jewish wife exposed the vizier's plot to exterminate the Jews and he was put to death. They made a movie about it called "One Night with the King". I haven't seen it, but I want to.

In Farsi it's pronounced Khashaayaar. ("aa" being pronounced like the "a" in "far")

I used to work in a heavily Jewish neighborhood and it's nice to know about the holiday that was once described to me as "Jewish Halloween." Happy Purim, Thor.

I would wish my aunt and uncle a Happy Purim (my aunt was born Catholic and converted to Judaism) but they never really talk about their being Jewish. Its something that thy even seem to avoid talking about.

What type of Judiasm do they practice?

I dont know. We dont talk about the fact that they are Jewish. It was only this past summer that I learned that my uncle's grandparents were killed by the Nazis in Kiev. Naturally, I've known the guy forever but this is the first time its been mentioned. If its werent for the menorah I noticed tucked away on a book shelf in their apartment, they would seem like Gentiles. Frankly, my aunt talks about Judaism much more than my uncle.

Not Jewish either but Happy Purim !
