I've recently been re-watching Harvey Birdman and although the shows untimely end, i realised something about it... That show would make for an excellent live action movie... A true spoof on the superhero franchise but with the unique twist that it was originally a serious cartoon, turned comical adult swim cartoon, i think the best next transistion would be a 2 and a half hour movie...

The good thing about this property as a franchise is that you wouldnt really need to work to hard on the script because you could generally take the best gags from the entire 4 series, bearing in mind there are only 15 minute shows, taking them gags and formulate a plot. To me this would make for a great spoof on the superhero genre, they already tried to spoof superhero movies with The superhero Movie... which spoofed mostly spiderman. Personally i think if your going to make fun of a franchise at least be original or take an original property that hasnt been even made as a normal movie to yet spoof.

The Live Action would be an easy cast too... Majority of the voice actors could be made to look like there counterparts, with exception to some of the younger characters like Peanut and birdgirl... The way i see it is, you get all the cast to return, but for the parts of Peanut and Birdgirl, we get actors of that age and we dub them with the true voice actors to give it more of the effect that this is the transition from little screen to big...

Gary Cole as Birdman
Thomas Allen as Peanut (Voice Dub)
Jorma Taccone as Peanut
Stephen Colbert as Phil Ken Sebben/Reducto
John Michael Higgins as Mentok The Mindtaker
Paget Brewster as Judy/Birdgirl (Voice Dub)
Alyson Hannigan as Birdgirl
Peter MacNicol as X-The Elimator
Chris Edgerly as Peter Potamus (Voice Dub)

Characters as such - Peter Potamus and Avenger should be CGI, For Potomus im thinking a simular technique they used to create the hulk in the recent style.

The Plot would have to be a complete run of the history... somewhat of comprising over 3 acts.

The first part of the story recaps how Birdman became Birdman, a somewhat new origin story i guess. this would initially parody of how X-Men Origins: Wolverine starts. But then we have Birdman start his new career as an attoney at law, The overal plot of the entire film has F.E.A.R employe X-The Elimator to obtain the Crest of Birdman, after he kills him. However X is constatly uncessful at doing this throughout the movie, the major villian of the movie would have to be a character like the head of F.E.A.R, and they aim is to get rid of Birdman, X is employed but is uncessful... so they send others after him, Think of the scene like in star wars when Darth sends out all the bounty hunters but really you focus on Boba Fett. Through-out the movie we learn that Avenger birdmans faithful companion leaves the law firm and gets a job with vulturo who is a rivial lawyer, Birdman then employes Peanut as his new leagle aid, we also learn of Judy who is Phil Ken Sebbens daugther who has a fascination with birdman. You also have Birdman and Reducto chat over beers seemily as friends and colleages discussing cases. Plus the crazy off the wall antics of Mentok in court. The overal outcome would be initially birdman being run over by phil like in the finel episode of the cartoon series.

I think if they did this, it would be an excellent stand alone tribute to the comic book world, the superhero genre and the role cartoons from the early days of hanna barbara was intwinde with our lives...

anyone else share this passion#?

I do. One of my all time favorite shows. Own all 3 seasons. "Booty Noir" is my favorite episode.

My favorite character was Potomus. "You get that thing I sentcha?"

I go around my office at work and say that line. Classic.

I love this show but I gotta say, I don't think it needs to be live action. I love the cartoon so much, I don't want to be disappointed in a cheap live action movie. Plus, too many character would have to be CGI like Potamus.

No. 99% of the humor of that show comes from seeing actual cartoon characters we know well being embroiled in crazy scenarios. Making them all into live action versions of themselves will virtually eliminate the impact of that.

Fred Flinstone in the mafia.
Shaggy and Scooby busted for smoking pot.
The clapping bear.

Great ****ing show.

Think of it this way, We've already had a live action fred flinstone and shaggy and scoobydoo, so it wouldnt be that hard, i mean they parodey cartoon characters in such scary movies or jay and silent bob... so its not as if it hasnt been done before but at the same time would be funny to see a CGI Top Cat have to explain his illegal gambling problem, or Inch High Private Eye... somehow i see Ben Stiller playing that part...

^:lmao:

I would love to see Colbert in it for real. That would be way too fun.

A live action Birdman I do want to see, but from the actual show. Actually I really want a live action Space Ghost based on the more serious toned comic that was released a while back.

Well what i thought was having a movie that covers his career as a superhero, but then he becomes a lawyer... i figure it has paralles to such characters like spiderman and superman whose duel identity is a constant feature...

I see the Birdman movie, although being a spoof. starts of with Birdman, the superhero who is fighting the F.E.A.R organisation, with F.E.A.R losing members quick they soon bring upon X-The Elimator whom goes about trying to stop birdman, however Birdman who has now found his career as a superhero has taken his toll on him and wants to retire to a more forfilling role. one where he can actually deliever justice at a much safer enviroment. Birdman then on the hight of his success is sued by all the super villians whom he defeated. Birdman was trail each of them at the same time battle X-The Elimator who is still active.

A Birdman movie? Yes. Live Action? No. Harvey Birdman is hands down one of the funniest cartoons to come around in eons and it should stay a cartoon.

Well they did end the show with a bang with the 30 minute episode where that giant gurrilla comes back forgot what the episode was called but that was the closest we got to any kind of movie. I'd love to see a direct to dvd movie ala Futurama.

"Regarding the talc situation...YOUR OUT OF IT!!" - Potomus
