i never thought she did but i just picked up the TPB Revenge of the green goblin, and they show a newspaper clipping saying she died, and peter mentions how hard it is to deal with her death a lot, it said she died in an airplane crash. i flipped through the book just to see if she does indeed come back cuz i couldnt help myself but she wasnt in it at all. is she really dead? and if not, what happend and how does she come back?

From what I can recall, MJ was being stalked by some guy who we later learn had some sort of strange ability to absorb Pete's essence, abilities..memories..etc...or some such nonsense......

.....the stalker got on the plane with MJ ...(her and Pete were going to hook up later to continue their reconciliation)...and had the plane explode killing all aboard but himself and MJ....

...Pete later learns MJ was still alive ...Pete battles essense boy.....bob's your Uncle....complete crap in my opinion but some seemed to like the story...

Basically the EIC of Marvel at the time, Bob Harras, wanted MJ out of the comics for good, and in a moment of unconventional stupidity announced to Mackie and Bryne, that he wanted her dead, and for her to get blown up in a plane accident. Byrne and Mackie both knew that the **** wouldn't stick, so Byrne drew an opening cargo door on the plane, to later use as an exit stratagy. The books featured a couple of Harras pushed, stories where we saw Peter "finally realize" MJ was gone for good, but it didn't work and eventually....

During the Peter Parker, and Green Goblin fight that we never saw on panal, (Thanks Mackie  ), Peter brushed up against a guy who basically as 'Tales put it, absorbed essence. The guy went little crazy, as he was feeling exactly like Peter Parker, he kidnapped MJ, held her captive for a couple of weeks. Peter showed up and got absolutly worked by the guy. Than Peter convinced him of the "Power and Responsibility" side of his memories, the guy stopped hitting Peter, walked into a park, and blew himself up

Unfortunately, i think Marvel will still go thru with it.

I predict that MJ's death will be the endgame for "Civil War".

This will demonstrate to the world how right Cap is. (And also kill off a character (MJ) and a situation (Pete's marriage) JQ hates.)

And then the fans will become outraged, again, and she'll come back to life, again.

It's weird, but I don't think the fans complain when villians die, but they bring them back all the time. But I think most people already know that killing of MJ will cause a big out cry in the comic book community (again) so why do it? Just to sell books??

Marvel has like a disorder where they think they need to shock us all the time when really they just need to make some great stories. I read comics for the art and stories not to see my fave characters get screwed with.

Killing Mj again would be retconned anyway, very quickly

well ha hopefully
