I agree with that because the studios are running out of superhero movies to make, especially Marvel. I mean, the only big gun superhero they have left to make into a movie is Captain America, and they're not exactly rushing into that. The Apatow crew will still have fresh ideas for the next few years to come, at least.
The thing is that there's only a handful of superhero films that are actually good. Not superhero good, but good that can reach a broad crowd.
I would to put Spider-Man 1 and 2, X1 and X2, and Batman Begins into that category. (not including 300, Sin City)
But out of those 5, you have Ghost Rider, Ghost Rider, X3...they make money no doubt, but are they good?
I hope that Iron Man can put some quality back into the sub-genre, along with Dark Knight. I hope that this new Hulk can manage to please the mainstream, while Watchmen can take it to a whole new level.
It works the same with Apatow. Walk Hard bombed didn't it? Honestly, my favorite Apatow movie is Super Bad.
It thought that Knocked UP and 40-Year-Old Virgin, while entertaining, relied too much on vulgarity and too on the nose. I missed the subtle humor from his TV days, like Freaks and Geeks
