I mean not just in the aspect of comics or other entertainment medias but like philosophically or morally?

The novel has definitely changed my views on the entire superhero aspect and what ethics and morals make up human beings. Each character within Watchmen not only have different costumes, but also different political view points and different boundaries. All together they make up the levels of mankind. Rorschach being pitted as the face of poverty while Dan and Laurie are the faces of the average people, the Comedian represents our darker side while Adrian represents what we thrive to be our entire lives. Finally Dr. Manhattan is our so called "souls" being set to rest or a fabricated peace. The graphic novel has definitely influenced my views on how society reacts to different occurrences and different things that test us as a culture. That is why Watchmen will go down as being the greatest graphic novels of our time.

Watchmen is too dreary and dystopian to accurately display anything but the negative side of live. It's a great work, but it's also a pessimist's work. There was very little light in Watchmen, and what light there was was quickly snuffed out.

I realize this thread is supposed to be wider than comics, but I thought this link discussing some minor parallels between the Watchmen and the Defenders might be fun to add into the mix: http://defendersfan.blogspot.com/

Gratned, the Watchmen are going to have some parallels with just about every team if you look hard enough.
