Hasbro and Marvel extend licensing agreement through 2017

Hasbro proves, despite the criticism, it is the best toy company out there right now.

While I personally am not much of a consumer of their product, I will tip my hat to Hasbro as a good toy company and, more importantly, a great, canny business.

There has been some bashing of how Hasbro has handled Marvel Legends, perhaps justifiably so. In my opinion, THAT working relationship was and is doomed to failure. Hasbro was never going to stamp its own identity on the Marvel brand by merely continuing the work of Toy Biz. A company like Hasbro would aspire to be a trend-setter, not a trend follower.

I'd imagine these GI-Joe-sized Marvel Universe figures are going to end up being where the Hasbro/Marvel universe relationship really takes off, and Hasbro really make an impact on the comic book figure market.

Hasbro is also very capable at putting out Marvel stuff in a lot more mediums than Toybiz could. Toybiz did what they could with what they had, but Hasbro just has so much more. Their shipping alone is usually a lot better. I don't think there's ever been a single Hasbro Marvel figure that I haven't seen retail. That says something. There were a ton of Toybiz figures I never saw retail. (It's debatable what that actually means based on supply/demand and the popularity of Hasbro VS Toybiz)

But Marvel is in good hands. They've revived GI Joe, kept Star Wars alive with dozens upon dozens of repaints and re-issues, and maintained/revived Transformers. Marvel toys are going to be a staple for a long while.

But they just couldn't cut it with Indiana Jones...that was a flop.

I'm sorry...but i've always been more of a Marvel fan than a DC fan...but Mattel has Hasbro beat with the DCU wave.

Great! Now make us some more six inch Spidey rogues, por favor! :yay:

Personally, I want more Iron Man rogues as well, would love characters other than Iron Monger, I have 4 varients, but no Crimson Dynamo, Living Laser, Ghost, Spymaster or Madam Masque.

Hasbro will greatly improve by then. Just look at their Star Wars stuff from around 1999 & compare it to their stuff now.

sorry, but for star wars it makes sense, hasbro has had alot of time trying to perfect a teenie scale. but There is absolutely no excuse for hasbro's 6inch figs when Toybiz got it right along time ago, And Mattel is currently carrying the paint/sculpt quality torch. It should not take hasbro over 9 years for them to figure this out.

i would have much preferred, if hasbro would have just bought out toybiz, so that way our quality would have remained the same.

^ Cry baby!!! LOL!

Live the present dude! Hasbro rules!!!

look, im very pleased with alot of what hasbro is done, but the fact they can't keep up with quality, is a big complaint, and still a big complaint. They've gotten much better, but for what we pay, and for the lack of stuff we get (no more bafs, no more bases, no more comics) we should at least be getting top notch stuff... Id be happy to accept the "hasbro" joints if hasbro learned how to truly do paint aplications. They lean on colored plastics more so.. which just simply don't look as good.

I know dude... You have all those points on your side.

I think it is absurd to pay $15.99 for a figure we used to pay $8 or $9.

But they have the $$$ to convince Marvel, and all that Marvel want is $$$. I think they(Marvel) don't give a DAMN about fans anymore... action figure related.

ok this is one thing that does piss me off.. the only thing that has EVER been $15 from hasbro was the hulk wave. Nothing else is $15, sure there was the target wave that got miss priced.. but people can't keep using that as a crutch against hasbro either... the hulk wave was a massive BAF wave. complete with alot of big figs.

and you do realize it's HASBRO making the majority of the money, not marvel, Marvel is only to blame for being in agreement with hasbro... there innocent otherwise.

You jump to alot of absurd conclusions
