The Force Awakens Have the bad guys victorious until the last movie

What do you think of the first two films ending in a similar feel/mood as TESB, Dark and tragic? I personally believe that this kind of ending for the first two films would really add to the effect of the overall series but also make the final victory that much more potent and effective for a satisfying finish.

I'd be good with this. I know they're making a new story, but I'd like to see an adaptation of the Yuuzhan Vong War. There are a few victories for the good guys, but they are on the backfoot for the majority of the war.
