Have you ever boycotted a comic book movie?

By that I mean made a POINT of not seeing it, rather than just not making it to the theater for one reason or another.

Punisher:WZ, The Spirit, Wanted, HB1, HB2 are all ones I chose to skip. Just felt absolutely zero pull to see them.

See, War Zone I wanted to see but didn't get a chance. I felt no urge to see The Spirit & should'veskipped Wanted, but I made it a point not to go see Superman Returns. There was just no way in hell that movie was going to get one nickel of my hard-earned money. A year later I borrowed my uncle's DVD & confirmed that I'd made the right choice.

but there's always those moments when you do sit down and watch 'em (if it's on TV) and actually end up liking it (to a degree).

I'm not too sure why someone would boycott Hellboy 1 or 2 though unless there's a valid reason.

I thought Hellboy 2 was terrible. And it's rare that I find myself enjoying a movie that I really did not want to see in the first place. Usually it's the opposite.

I was never a Hellboy fan. Not only that, I am completely unfamiliar with the character/mythos so there's no pull to see it, as I said. Now I'm not a fan of Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, FF, or the X-Men either but at least with them I had a passing familiarity.

For the longest time I ignored "Superman IV: The Quest For Peace."

But once "Superman Returns" was announced, I felt a need to find closure and see the infamous final installment of the Christopher Reeve regime...

UGHHHH...:csad:

Oh, and if they count as comic-book movies, then every TMNT film ever made for me as well.

I made a point to avoid TF and will avoid TF-2, despite the promising-looking teaser.

Catwoman. There was no way in hell that was going to be good.
Found my sister recorded it off TV, and I skimmed through it.
As bad as I thought.

Even the first one? I'd put it on my top ten comic book films. Maybe even top 5.

I'm halfway with ya there. I got roped into seeing TF(wish I hadn't) but no force on earth could make me see TF2. But I really don't count those as comic book movies any more than Star Wars films are. Sure they've existed in comics form, but that wasn't where they originated.

The premise is so utterly stupid that I couldn't begin to even think of watching it.

Oh and I did the exact same thing that you did for Catwoman, except I did it with Elektra.

boycotted would suggest that you intentially didn't see it because you were against something it did, rather than it being crap and not being interested.

i don't think so.

Umm..so what do you like then? That's pretty much the majority of the movies out there that you just listed.

^From comics? Hulk, Iron Man and the Avengers. That's about it for mainstream stuff. The rest is more lesser known stuff like Next Men, Elementals, Trouble With Girls, etc. But I'll see those other Marvel/DC films as long as I have at least a passing familiarity with them, as I said. But I've got none of that with Hellboy, TMNT, etc.

Hence why I said 'ignored' and not 'boycott' so I agree...

I've never boycotted seeing a CB film.

I like mostly Image stuff (non of the Spawn, but more like The Walking Dead, etc).

The problem with me, is I have already watched the movie before I boycott it. I'll never get those 1 - 3 hours back, and that is terrible.

When i heard the guy who did Nightwatch was gonna do Wanted (one of my favourite GN's) I felt good things... But then with every subsequent piece of news i became more and more uninterested, with each announcement it seemed to get further and further away from the source material... Then one cold day the trailer was released... Sheee-iiitt... The main character's name is still Wesley and the movie is called WANTED? Thats your justification for calling it an adaptation? I knew i'd never watch this film and to this day i never have...

I tried but could never get into the Image stuff. I did read Pitt when it came out but it fizzled. My main problem with Image was that they were never able to make a clear unified universe for their characters and I just got too confused in the end. I guess I usually prefer r-rated comics like Next Men, Elementals, etc. Too bad Comico went belly up.
