Hawaii Five-O - Part 2

Just watched the finale. Yawn. For a show that started with a massive bang it really went out with a whimper. McGarrett left to find peace ? WTF ?

This show went down the tubes when Chin and Kono left, and were replaced by incredibly boring characters played by bland actors.

Will rewatch the first few seasons, which were great, but wow, what a disappointing ending.

I would tune in now and again. I recall after Wo Fat was killed they used a new villain mobster character who was like Wo Fat's female equivalent.

After Wo Fat was killed the show took a nose dive in quality.

The first two seasons of this show were so good though. I think they weren't able to maintain that quality because they had to get like 22 episodes a season.

Also yeah, Chin and Kono leaving didn't help either.

There's a terrific "show within a show" episode I think in season 3 or 4 where an Oprah character goes for a ride along - she even interviews Wo Fat, while he's impersonating a cop.

Wo Fat was always the best antagonist and the show should have ended with his defeat. Having said that, there were some good episodes with Chin's nephew, who turned out to be a drug lord.

Really, for me the show ended when Chin and Kono left - their replacements had very little charm or personality.

Are you referring to the Aisha Tyler episode where she plays a proxy for Wendy Williams/Oprah and they catch Wo Fat and half of his face is burned in a helicopter crash?

Cause that's my most hated episode in the entire series, lol :D

Yeah, I loved it. To each their own I guess.

Especially when Aisha interviews Wo Fat, and someone suddenly recognizes him and all hell breaks loose.

Because 5-0 had been quite serious up until that point it was great to see them stop and take the piss out of themselves. Of course later on it went too far.

As I remember it Wo Fat just showed up during an interview and 5-0 took chase. I saw 5-0 as I once saw Miami Vice, something new and exciting in the first season with the occasional flash of that brilliance during the rest if the run. I count the faux Oprah episode as one of those brilliant moments

Terrific? It was terrifically bad. Not only do I hate these types of camera shots and shows, but they had Wo-Fat burned and easily caught in it. I agree with @TheVileOne that it's the worst or one of the worst episodes of the series.

My issue with the episode at the time was I kind of felt like they just totally undercut not just catching Wo Fat, but half of his face getting burned off and disfigured.

The show had been building up Wo Fat as the central bad guy since the first season.

Later on Wo Fat's scars got mostly healed, which was also kind of hilarious. Little explanation to that either. Just felt like they wanted a visual of Wo Fat looking like Two-Face and then abandoned the idea later and fixed his face.

I know that modern medicine definitely has some breakthrough treatments, but I doubt even the best plastic surgery can heal that much scar tissue.

When you swing for the fence you either get a homerun or strike out. I think they touched all the bases from "hey its Wo Fat" on.

I can completely respect those criticisms.

However, I still enjoyed the episode. Wo Fat's scars never bothered me - if anyone would have access to high end burn treatment ( once he escaped ) it was Wo Fat.

Tbh I have no idea why they killed him off. That episode in season 5 could have been the series finale.
