Writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Star Trek), as well as Peter Lenkov ("CSI: NY") are developing a new spin on the vintage cop drama "Hawaii Five-O" at CBS.

Lenkov will write the pilot script under Kurtzman and Orci's supervision, and Lenkov will serve as showrunner should the project be picked up to series.

The trio will executive produce for CBS Television Studios. CBS gave the project a pilot commitment on Thursday after a pitch from Kurtzman, Orci and Lenkov.

The 1968-80 series starred Jack Lord as Steve McGarrett, head of the hardboiled Hawaiian State Police, which handled the toughest criminal cases and investigated organized crime on the island.

I love the old show and always thought it would get a movie reboot, still this may be the better approach.

Wow, CBS should just renamed COP. Since that seems to be the style show they air now. Besides their comdies of course.

Looking forward to it though.

The Hollywood Reporter says that CBS has cast Alex O'Loughlin ("Moonlight") as the new Detective Steve McGarrett in its "Hawaii Five-0" remake. Jack Lord played the role in the original series.

O'Loughlin will be joining "Lost" co-star Daniel Dae Kim, who will play Detective Chin Ho Kelly.

Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Peter Lenkov are behind the update.

Daniel Dae Kim = :up::up:

I want to see Adam Beach as Ben!!

Alex O'Loughlin needed to be on an established TV show.....not another series that could end up being canceled.

He needs a new agent.

Scott Caan is Danno in Hawaii Five-O

Scott Caan ("Ocean's Eleven" films) has landed the role of Danny "Danno" Williams on CBS' "Hawaii Five-O." The show comes from CBS Studios, Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Peter Lenkov.

The updated version centers on an elite branch of the Hawaii State Police headed by Steve McGarrett, to be played by Alex O'Loughlin.

Williams, who was played by James MacArthur on the original series, is a New Jersey cop who has recently undergone an acrimonious divorce and has transferred to Hawaii to be near his 7-year-old daughter.

Forced to partner with McGarrett, Danno is initially leery of their association -- but as he grows more familiar with his maverick new boss, he begins to appreciate the opportunity to work with McGarrett.

I like what I see...hopefully the third time's the charm for Alex O'Loughlin.

I will watch the **** out of this show....grew up on reruns of the original

Hogan's character: "She's a Godsdamn skinjob!!!"
Everyone else:  "Dude, what the **** are you talking about?"

Hulk should come in with the Thunder in Paradise boat.

This might actually work.
