Wow, that was amazing. JUst wow.

I didn't get the point of Yara going to the Dreadfort either. Ramsay isn't the type to just let people get away, he would have captured them and flayed them.

ADWD spoilers below

Is Yara going to sail all the way around Westeros again back to Pyke for the Kingsmoot?

It would have made sense if Ramsay captured her, let her go, but she succeeded in escaping. She could have made her way to the Wall where she becomes a prisoner.

Right now, all I can see is that her ship gets seized by Stannis on his way to the Wall.
I think she

Is just going to turn around for when her Uncles arrive, so that we can have a familiar face as Euron rises to power before she gets exiled to Deepwood Motte. Because we need some Ironborn occupation in the North for Stannis to defeat and win over the Northmen.

This whole episode was just win. Yara at the dread fort was anticlimactic but also pretty awesome. Were Stannis and Davos actually at the iron bank in Braavos? Also, they showed his little knubbies!!! I've been dying to see that forever!

Yeah they were truly in Braavos!

Liam Cunningham is a truly underrated talent :hrt:

All Game of Thrones seasons have been slow in some regard, it's just the way this show is. Granted, yes, the Yara attack got incredibly anticlimatic and i don't think i would consider Yara a badass, sure the actual sneak attack was badass but then things went very south.

Reek's confession of love however, now that was a scene! I was happily surprised to see Salladhar/Salladhor/PirateMan return to this show. :)

I loved the scene between Jaime and Tywin. Charles Dance's Tywin Lannister *is* the best character in the television series, mah gawd!

And yes, this episode ended the best way possible. Hope Tyrion ends the episode 7 too, alongside episode 8. :b

No doubt that bath scene will drive the Tumblr "Thramsay" fangirls into a frenzy.

Just in this Episode, pretty much the entire attack on the Dreadfort was filler and completely pointless in regards to Yara.

But I still think we're getting 8 seasons.

No. We are still getting eight seasons. The writers just want a number of events to happen concurrently which requires some stalling until episodes 9&10. Im not happy with it but so be it. The stories they are stalling can still be wrapped up quickly after episodes 9&10. So we should still have a number of ADWD plotlines done by the end of next season.
Gotya, thanks.

The Stannis storyline has been stuck with him fuming at his big table in Dragonstone for awhile. It must be fun to get him out and about again.
Absolutely. That was the idea. When we first broached the subject of bringing in the Iron Bank, for awhile the version was [Iron Bank representative Tycho Nestoris] would come to Dragonstone and meet on Stannis’ turf. It just seemed like whenever we can open up this world and give the audience something new visually and take characters out of their comfort zone, the better. We thought it would be more dramatic and interesting to put Stannis in the position of having to go ask for a loan. It’s a humiliating situation. The Stannis storyline is certainly more of a slow burn, but it will pay off.

Good decision in my opinion, in the books traveling back & forth would take much longer, but it was fun to see Bravoos. Funny how Stannis' opinions on traveling to Bravoos are in the book. ;p

The scene with Jaime and Tywin. We get the feeling Tywin was waiting for Jaime to make the offer to resign from the Kingsguard to save Tyrion, and maybe even some of what is going on with the trial was all for that very purpose. Is that a valid read?
Exactly. That’s exactly what that moment is meant to do — for you to question every moment that happened leading up to it. Is Tywin really that good? How much of this has he manipulated? It’s no accident he instantly says, “Done.” Tywin knows his kids really well, he knows where their loyalties are. Tywin is solving problems he’s had for many years with this situation. And Jaime knows his father well enough to know exactly what just happened. The idea for that scene came from Dave Hill, who is Dan and David’s assistant, and is joining the writing staff for season five.Does Tywin think Tyrion is guilty?
Deliberately kept it ambiguous. I have my own opinion, I’m sure [actor Charles Dance] has his … but it’s not for me to say.
I wondered in the recap last week: Even Tywin figured out the Tyrells killed Joffrey, would it really change anything about the way he treats them or his plans?
That is a fascinating question! I’ve never thought about that. Maybe he wouldn’t. It’s certainly in his best interest to keep things how they are. Even if he had first-hand knowledge, I’m not so sure she would have done anything. What a bastard!

Great stuff.

Also, loved seeing Mycroft Holmes working at the Iron Bank.

Yeah, he seemed very familiar. Had to pause the episode and double-check.

Oh man, easily my second favorite episode this season. So much good stuff here and there.

I always enjoy your opinions GSR, so I'll bite, which was your favourite?

Pycelle is lord of the brown nose.
Yeah, Tyrion really should have let Stannis kill everyone. Be the best thing that could happen.
Stannis would be burning those unbelievers in King's Landing day and night.
Yeah, my wife and I were laughing when Oberyn asked that. He seemed to perk up in his seat. :funny:

Now I get all the goat lovers jokes about people from Dorne. Oberyn is a horndog. I wouldn't be surprised if Oberyn hit on shae.

Gatiss with that iron bank of braavos swag.

Theon bites the hand that feeds him when he bites his sister

So Tyrion's trial, the best scene in the series? I don't know, but it might very well be. Great episode that also saw the return of my boy Salladhor Saan. :D

Did Salladhor make a reference to Euron? I thought I heard him talking about Silence.

I couldn't actually even hear the punchline to that joke because of those two....artists.

Funny how the only Braavosi with an accent is Syrio...

Finally got a chance to watch the recent episode. Damn what an ending give Dinklage an award right now.

Oh, Syrio...I still hold out hope for you.

Again, an episode I enjoyed. I agree the Dreadfort battle seemed...pointless. Also seemed badly setup, because of the small quarters and how Ramsay had no armor and no shield. But, I guess it atleast conveys his combat prowess. And it did convey just how far gone Theon, I mean Reek, is.

I really liked Oberyn this episode, too. From wondering outloud if now that he's on the council he ought to be master of something, to having his mind blown by how devoid of sexual appetite Varys claimed to be, to asking the most important follow up question of all time to a witness on trial.

Dany having the realities of a world filled with gray invade her black and white perspective. It was a good scene that made her decision to crucify all the masters, which I thought was called for, seem ill conceived in hindsight.

Tywin was great in this episode, and his scene with Jamie was damn good. How quickly he agreed to save Tyrion surprised me, and seemed to surprise Jamie.

And yeah, Dinklage stole it. ****in' aye, that was just an incredible scene. He was amazing.

Ugghh the Dreadfort stuff was so pointless. They got there, killed a few guys, then got chased away by dogs and went back. Wish it hadn't happened, although it was nice to see Reek and Ramsay again.

Tyrion's climatic speech at his trial was epic. Really really fantastic stuff from Dinklage, and I loved how his facial expressions and the camera angles tried to paint him as some kind of monster.

Oberyn has quickly become one of my favourite characters. He's just so witty, so sexual and hilarious. I really hope Pedro Pascal gets more high-profile work after this. Imagine a buddy-cop movie with him and Dinklage :o

I'm gonna cry when he dies :csad:

I said the same thing last night as well. I can't stand him, at all. Cersei talking trash about him makes me smile, plus, when she pulled that young girl away from him at the Purple Wedding, I have never rooted for her more. Surprisingly, this season has turned her into one of my favourite characters on the show, she's still evil, but at least she still has a soul (unlike her dead, incestuous son).

I loved his first... "I did not, do it."

He said it in that sad innocent child like way.

I know everyone's talking about Dinklage and rightfully so but Nikolaj Coster-Waldau brought it as well. His reaction when Tyrion first said he wished to confess was amazing. You could see he was so heartbroken.
