Tessa Thompson to Star in ‘Hedda Gabler’ Reimagining From Nia DaCosta – The Hollywood Reporter

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Thompson is set to play Hedda Gabler in Nia DaCosta’s upcoming film Hedda for MGM’s Orion Pictures and Plan B.

Written and directed by Nia DaCosta — coming off both the success of 2021’s Candyman and her upcoming MCU debut The Marvels (the first trailer for which recently landed) — the feature is billed as an epic and visceral reimagination of Henrik Ibsen’s famed 1891 stage play, and reunites the filmmaker with Thompson after she starred in the director’s critically acclaimed 2018 debut feature Little Woods.

This is exciting. Gabler is a GOAT role, and I'm excited to see how DaCosta 'reimagines' the story. And it's great to see Tessa Thompson with more prestige roles coming down the pipe. I'm still not over her and Ruth Negga getting passed over for 'Passing' last year.

Looking forward to this. Also would love to see them reunite again in the MCU. Someone mentioned a cameo in Marvels for eg but anything like that would be cool. DaCosta is hopefully also in the running to land X-Men.
