I LOVE this movie.

Lovecraftian goodness meets the x files with a dash of superhero antics and humour to top it all of.

Ron Perlman is completely awesome in everything he does, but he was BORN to play this role.

Thoughts?

One of my favorite movies ever.
Hellboy is like one of my top 3 comic guys, with Batman and Daredevil, and GdT did an AMAZING job, IMO.

A very solid movie, the make-up and effects is great, great acting, and a good story but saddly the plot structure is garbage and the finale is less than satisfying but overall a solid movie, I'm highly antcipating the sequel.

i think Pearlman was a great Hellboy, but after seeing the film, i was kind of disapointed. I had never heard of Hellboy up until i saw the trailer. Then i went and bought the Seed of Destruction book. It had a sticker saying "THE BOOK THAT INSPIRED THE UPCOMING FILM!" I read it, and was in complete awe. The atmosphere was perfect, the story was great. That's what i was expecting in the movie, and i thought from the trailers, that's what i was gonna see.

What i got, while it being an enjoyable film, was something else entirely. I didn't feel the captured the atmosphere. I didn't like the love connection between HB and Liz either. And i still think Del Toro uses too much CGI. Now, dont get me wrong, i enjoyed the movie, but it wasn't what i thought it was gonna be.

Well I think the effects were great....I didn't even know abe in the tank was completely (or even partly ) cgi till I watched the commentary. Not many films do that to me.

I was suprised I liked this. There was a lot lacking, but I enjoyed it none the less. I'm a huge fan of the comics and have been since it started certain changes I didn't like, what they did with Rasputin first off and the love angle between Liz and HB. I understand why they did it, but it could have been done better.

That being said I still enjoyed it, but afte seeing Sin city and knowing what they could do with that I would have love to have seen some of Mignola's style and composition brought into the movie. But alas it is not to be.

Mike has said many times that he doesn't want to just recreate what he's done in the comics onto the big screen, but do something new and exciting which I can understand, still I think an okay movie could become outstanding.

Absolutely amazing movie.

Liz pwning the kids who were bullying her by incinerating them made me larf :o

The Hellboy movie takes elements from several of the Hellboy stories. They just put the sticker on Seed of Destruction because it's the first TPB.

GdT did an excellent job capturing Mignola's sense of lighting, considering most of Mignola's use of darkness is near-to-completely impossible to recreate.

While parts of the plot may be flawed, and some of the CGI poor, the film is still superb.

i didnt like it.....

i dont like guillermos style.....especially the annoying orangyness

While there is a Hellboy forum, hardly anyone posts there. Besides, it seems like Horrorfan wanted to get the opinions of the general poster, not the Hellboy fans.

Just going by what has happened in the past

Well excuse me, Mr. Forum Officer, but it's a discussion thread. What's wrong with placing it where there's discussion, and asking for opinions from a neutral audience?
