James Rolfe has set up an IndieGoGo campaign to help raise funds for the AVGN movie. For those of you unfamiliar with IndieGoGo, it runs under the premise that you basically pledge money in exchange for rewards or benefits given to you. On top of seeing a project succeed, varying amounts pledged will net you better rewards. For instance 200 dollars on this film nets you a Special Video Message, a Signed Photo, a Script Copy (once film is complete), Behind The Scenes Video, and Your Name in the Special Thanks section of the films end credits, and the knowledge you helped the project succeed. 1000 dollars nets you an appearance in the film as an extra.

It's also known that the film plans to be as practical as possible, with some green screening, but also puppetry, animatronics, and miniature sets.

The end goal is 75,000 dollars, with 11,434 dollars already raised. Most of you'll probably be like, eh, but I figured it couldn't hurt to post it anyway.

I would like to help fund it, as the guy has entertained me for hours, but I'm getting my funding for my flick. Not easy I can tell you.

How come there's never threads on this board asking people to donate to UNICEF or the American Cancer Society? It's always "give me money for my independent student film" or "give money to some internet celebrity who already has more money than you do."

Since the Robocop statue got it's budget from the internet, I'd assume that this can too.

I was tempted, he's a funny guy, hope it works out for him.

I'd rather burn it. Nobody should encourage this schmuck.

There are 69 days left in the AVGN movie fundraiser and the movie has raised $169,178 out of the $75,000 goal. The original intention was to have investors do most of the financing but it looks like the entire movie will be made from fan donations.

Wow, he made that much? Good for James! Hope the movie is worth it all.

can't wait to see the finished project :D
james has entertained me for years with his various webshows

I think since he only really needed $75,000, he should give the rest to a charity. :o

The plan was to raise $75,000 and then go to investors to raise the rest of the money. I think that he should avoid the investor route and whatever is left after making the film should go to a charity.

If he makes it on his own he'll also have more creative control so it's a good thing.

Everyone should do this. We need a CGI **** Pickle.

Good for James.

Extremely talented guy. He's entertained me for years, for completely free. I'm happy to donate to his film.

No. I do not support this sort of stuff at all. I'm not a fan anyway. He's just not my dish. I deal with loud and obnoxious people too much in real life to find fake angry people all that entertaining.

James, the person, comes across to me as very laid back and modest, and extremely hard working.

I prefer Nostalgia Critic, i just find him funier

And knowledgeable to boot, with an understanding of most of the material he presents. Something the Critic keeps tossing out every time he opens his mouth.
