Help with a custom....just a repaint.

hi folks, Roughneck here.....Can someone teach me a way to make the first pic into the second?

See how the color comes through, and there's blue in there too? I mean, sure I could just paint it black....but i want it to apear black, but have those blue highlights and the color still coming through....is that even possible?

Also i'm up for suggestions for the black streams coming from him.

id say just make him black then highlight areas with a navy blue

as for the smoke? is that what it is?
its gonna be a little tougher. you could use the twistie ties that ml figures used to with, but id put hot glue over them to make them thicker
or ribbon and super glue, im not exactly sure how you'd do it though, it was just an idea that popped in my head

Dont paint the black first! NEVER try to paint a lighter color over black.

In this case, do the blue first and then dry brush layers of black over. Work layer by layer and slowly build up a darker and darker black covering.

For the black streams coming off of him, you could use ribbons. Sandwich a bendable wire inbetween two pieces of ribbon and that way, the streams will remain bendable and look similar to the picture.

atgscl is pretty much on the money Rough. Another wee suggestion would be use a blue tinted clear coat to go over the fig then do the layers of black washes. That way some of the original colors are visible, but now they'll be given that dark blue/black appearance.

at the bottom Jin shows how to use clear colors to give the impression of metallics by going over silver. Instead of silver just go over the existing paint apps of the fig.

There's a clear glow in the dark paint that you could use for the eyes... after you paint them (Antique Gold will look better than yellow. It'll have that glowy effect in daylight and if you add the glow in the dark paint, Anti-Sora will have glowy eyes at night.)
Also if you're going to pose the fig. You might need to sand a little bit on the joints to avoid paint rub.
Also there's a lot of hidden detail on the Anti-Sora pic. You might need to fool around with it on some image editing program to get it out. (gloss paint would make him too shiny.)
But follow Jin's tutorials...
I guess you should get flat colors for the body since Anti-Sora is a being of darkness.

For the wisps you could use the twist ties with super glue. Or if you're going for a more 2-d effect on the wisps of darkness Clear plastic packaging from figs...
