I’m torn. I feel like his background in comedy and his skill with horror would make Cregger an expert fit for this.

But I also feel like Folie A Deux **** the urinal so badly that they’re going to need to hold off on the Joker/Harley pairing for awhile.

That may solve the issue of proximity to Folie A Deux. Maybe take Johnny Frost from Azzarello/Bermejo’s Joker and throw in a dash of “Joker’s Favor” and I can see this landing somewhere close to that in concept.

They already might have some horror follow ups if Clayface is a hit.

We haven't even gotten DCU Batman yet, and we already have a Clayface movie coming out likely before that that will be set in the DCU. We got Creature Commandos with Doctor Phosphorus as an important character. I am not a fan of having yet another spinoff featuring Batman villains before we get Batman himself. Enough already.

I think earliest we see Brave & the Bold is 2028 but a Mad Love adaptation with Joker & Harley does intrigue me. And Hollywood does love a Bonnie & Clyde story

Nope not entertaining this nonsense. Bad @Sawyer bad!

Go away, I need something to wash away the dual-aftertaste of Margot Robbie pretending to be attracted to that grill-toothed deviant/Kinda-Joker and Not-Really-Harley-Quinn singing off-key together. :o

If Zach Cregger can give me something closer to Mad Love, then y’all are just gonna have to live with it.

Then there's the one that's been getting attention online: Henchmen, a potential DC Studios movie that he's called the favorite script he's ever written, and which he penned before his 2022 breakout, Barbarian.

According to sources, Henchmen would center on a low-level henchman in the Gotham crime world who gains notoriety after managing to incapacitate Batman through a stroke of luck.

The Dark Knight could appear briefly in the movie, while Harley Quinn and Joker are in the project as well. Cregger has not yet pitched it to DC Studios, though the company is said to be aware of his interest.

I guess Flanagan and Cregger loved BTAS huh?

What's next? Any director for a film about a former television star suffering from a disease that condemns her to remain eternally young and who becomes a killer targeting her former on-screen partners?
What about a movie where a female scientist is accidentally cursed by her husband's experiment and transformed into a giant bat woman?

:o

You’ll get a Maxie Zeus movie and you’ll like it! :argh:

Jk, that sounds a little too Sony.

Standalone horror-y movies in the vein of BTAS villain origin episodes has been in the ether for a minute. That was probably more or less what they were asking Reeves to develop back in the HBOMax content glut days.

Love that Batman, Joker, & Harley could all be in this. Would be weird if our first glimpse at DCU Batman is him getting beat by a low level henchman but it’s all execution I suppose.

If the DCU fleshes out the Gotham lore with villain-centric movies based on BTAS, that’s cool; just give me Batman (or at least a Bat Family member, or even just Gordon) as a secondary antagonist in the story.

Get some good talent to do a Heart of Ice movie from Victor’s POV with Batman a constant threat.

Weapons was great and I l just watched Barbarian again. Cregger could make this into a really cool, $20M, 90-minute thriller that makes bank.

I was thinking about his prior films and the casts he’s used. Some ideas…

The Henchman: Justin Long

Joe Chill (they never actually say his name): Richard Brake

Heh. That would be funny, considering…

Sounds a lot better imo than "Henchman knocks out Batman: The Movie" I imagine that bit still plays into it though.

Sounds pretty cool tbh; I’m no fan of hero-less villain spin-offs.

I’d be cool with Margot Robbie returning (obviously not Leto) but I’m also down for a fresh start & new actress. I’d imagine the decision’s up to her if this film moves forward

Weapons Director Talks Batman DC Movie, Why It Won't Happen Soon

“This is funny. This has been blown out of proportion online. So, yeah, I wrote Henchmen, which is a story that takes place in the DC Universe, like years before I wrote Barbarian, and I really love it,” Cregger said. “But it’s not a Joker and Harley script. I’ve seen that online. And, no, I haven’t talked to James Gunn about it. I haven’t really talked to anyone at [DC Studios] about it.

Cregger does not have the time to worry about
Henchmen right now, as he’s currently prepping a Resident Evil movie. Sony won a hotly contested bidding war for Cregger’s Resident Evil movie, which he will write and direct. Austin Abrams, who appeared in Weapons, will star in Resident Evil.
