Very odd poster, it's a powerful image.. however I'm not quite fully understanding why they are promoting the film with Superman in handcuffs as a movie poster. Perhaps it's some sort of idea to get across that this Superman is going to be different from the previous incarnations before..?

No offense taken, though I didn't hate at at first either, I had more of an "meh" reaction. I think the poster looks better at a distance or smaller. taken

I think Superman has never looked so iconic since 1978. Cavill has presence, in a regal way.

i'm talking about the superman iconic features...
like a regular guy might looks 'supermanish' if he is having a hair curls on forehead.

it isn't necessary by a super good looking muscular guy.

I like the poster, though I do wish they had gone with a higher-res and clearer version of it than - it's too obvious that it looks like it was a screengrab from a motion shot.

Nonetheless, poster gripes aside................. Cavill looks great. Muscular yet regal, even though he's in handcuffs. The more I see of him in this role, the more I know he was the perfect choice for it.

I completely disagree with your perception of supermanish, but fair enough.

The poster is a good idea, but poor execution.

Good idea to break the mold and show the people something different with Superman. Poor execution in the actual image quality, the bored look on Superman's face.. it almost looks like a capture photoshoped right out of the film.

Agreed. Regal and rugged. A good balance to strike.

He's no less iconic than any other Superman, because I'm pretty sure everyone with a brain will recognize him as Superman.

Don't you know the spit curl has an unspoken rule of skipping a generation.

:waa: George Reeves, Dean Cain, and Henry Cavill are less iconic without the curl! :waa:

Personally, I think the curl looks quite silly for the most part.

In Superman Returns the curl was down right stupid. Superman was flying about at super speed with his hair essentially slicked back then when he lands, somehow the curl fixes itself.

As Superman his hair should more or less be side parted, but combed backwards, so it is believable that his hair might actually have fallen like that naturally. Then as Clark his hair should be a little more messy & covering more of his forehead.

Yeah. The curl should look like it happened naturally after a tussle of some sort. I don't think it was ever meant to be a permanently gelled feature of his hair. In the 40's and 50's it was mostly used to show action. The silver age superman didn't have a curl at all.

The curl isn't a deal breaker for me.

Well, the spit curl was a hair trend back in the day, like having hair caked in pomade.

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Today, it looks too decorative. But, I still like it on Superman when it looks natural.

I don't miss the s curl, but I hope after a good tussle, his hair falls naturally like this.

That is exactly what i want, his hair should flow naturally. Makes no sense for him to have his hair all styled when hes actually out there flying around and fighting.

I never got his perfect, gelled back, hair look. I definitely prefer him the way Jim Lee draws his hair.

Agree agree agree! But I have to admit Cavill has the best superman hair that will be seen on screen since the reruns of George. :yay:

Like Dean Cain, Cavill's natural hair looks better as Superman than the slicked back look.

Kirk Alyn and Chris Reeve's Superman got it right. It's not a major gripe but I hope they fix that in the sequel.

TDKR was all about boobs and butts, MoS seems to be all about hair.

Judging by that trend then, Justice League will most likely be about hairy boobs and butt hair. :oldrazz:
