Henry Cavill IS Superman: - Part 4

I'm as anxious as a cat in a roomful of rocking chairs to get this thing started.
I don't know about the rest of you, but all the past starts and stops with superman have me holding my breath.

I dont think they ever got this far with the casting though.

Why would anyone be worried? We're all hungry for pictures and news, but shooting is still well over a month away. All they're doing is spreading out casting announcements... otherwise there's nothing at all to reveal until the first official shot, hopefully sometime in August.

I hope so.. with Snyder and Cavill both being at Comic-Con, that has suprise Superman reveal written all over it.

A couple months ago he said he'd probably be there to promote Sucker Punch on DVD... but since it's out a month before Comic-Con, I dunno if he still will. Sure hope so though.

I wonder how much muscle Cavill has put on since the last picture we saw of him (which I think were the ones of him exiting out of the airport), and given that he looked pretty ripped even in that one, if he continued training as hard since then, one can only wonder on how great his physique will be for the role when shooting begins.

It's sorta funny when you think about how the only hero that hasn't looked powerful onscreen yet is Superman. I mean we've got Batman, Thor, Captain America, Wolverine... even Tobey was ripped in the first Spidey.

lol, well truth be told, unlike all of them, Superman really hasn't had the chance to be shown topless in a scene (in a movie that is).

I mean, you can't really count that hospital scene in SR where he was getting that shard of kryptonite out of his back.

Shows like LnC and Smallville have capitalized on Superman's strength and physique greatly (despite their limited budget), so one could only wonder on what you could do with Superman's character with no restraints.

Hey, don't forget Green Lantern. Say what you want about the movie, but Reynolds is ultra ripped.

I almost forgot to mention, that given this is most likely a origin film, assuming Clark won't be trained within the FOS for 12 straight years like the previous films, it'll be pretty great to see for dramatic purposes on Clark learning from first hand experience on what the limits of his powers are when put to the test.

What I mean by that is, I"m sure prior before becoming Superman, Clark may not have been in a situation as stressful as saving a runaway train, or catching a falling airliner mid flight...and to top it all off, he'll have to take on a super powered kryptonian who has military experience.

So to see Clark learn how to harness his own powers and really see him put to the test like we've never seen him before, it'll definitely be a treat to see Cavill portray that if they go that route.

One thing I hope they took from Birthright is how he traveled to world to secretly help out where he could prior to wearing the cape.

why can't he continue to secretly helping? why should he don the cape??

To become a symbol of hope. A beckon of light in a dark world. Superman can't save everyone but by becoming a symbol he becomes more than a hero. He becomes something that makes police try harder to catch a criminal to be more like Superman. Makes the guy who doesn't want to get up in the morning get up because Superman would. He makes people want to change the world. In essence Superman makes people want to be better and do better.

Can you not see how going public could mean helping on a wider scale? both practically (if he doesn't have to hide, he can be of much more assistance in all sorts of disasters) and ideologically.

Think about it.

Superman can fly into Metropolis, stop a robbery with plenty of people watching, and then hand them over to the police.

Clark in hiding can only stop a robbery if it happens to erupt when he's around, and only if no one sees what he's doing... and even then he can't hand them over to the police...

Add to that pretty everything IncredibleSK said.

He's making himself into someone people will look up to. An idea of hope, justice and truth that will make people more optimistic about there being GOOD in the world.

The one positive thing I can say about new Immortals trailer. Cavill comes off a lot better than he did in the first one.

You know, I'm still just so releaved we have Cavill.

There is not a single other suggestion from the casting thread that doesn't make me shudder at the thought now!

Can't wait to see more of him in Immortals and Cold Light of Day, and fingers crossed he's at comic con! :D

They are supposed to have an Immortals panel at Comic Con and Cavill is attending, or at least that what I saw in a report. So hopefully we'll get a better idea of how he'll look as Superman, since he has to have started training for it by now.

He's been training for at least a few months now. He said that he either had just started or had been training for a few weeks back during WonderCon. I can't imagine that they want him to get too big, but who knows. Hopefully the suit won't be as constrictive as the SR was.

Yeah, they really need to do a bang-up job with the costume. He looked pretty jacked in those photos that were released a few months back... he's probably even bigger now. But the wrong costume could ruin that.
