Heroes

Martian
I am alone
Last of my kind
among beings, that I love,
but that I am strange to.
I am here to protect,
at their home, my new home,
an alien, who lost so much,
but who treasures what he has left all that more.

Bat
I am alone
from childhood on
among friends that I think highly of,
that I expect to lose again.
I am here to fight
night after night, to avert worse
a loner, who has lost
and never recovered.

Amazon
I am alone
expelled by my sisters,
among men that I respect
but do not understand.
I am here to teach,
in a world that is not mine,
a hoping one, who lost paradise
and fights to find it once more.

Hero
I am the last of my kind
among beings that I love,
who took me in.
I am here to live,
for truth,
for justice,
for the good that is in all beings
and only has to be brought out,
a first among equals, who has lost
to gain.
I am not alone.
