Heroes similar to Watchmen?

Hey guys I was talking with my friend today. And has anyone seen the similarities between the major plot of Watchmen and Heroes? Both center around an event that occurs in New York that people know about and have more or less planned to bring the world together for a "better good" at the sacrafice of New York. Anyone else catch that?

Similar but not enough for people to keep talking about it. Nowadays nearly every story is similar to one before it unless it's completely whack. Marvel's Civil War is basically ****ing DC's Kingdom Come, but no one seems to notice or care, and that's the way it should be. Let people tell their stories.
